Went here for lunch today. Crackin' in terms of quality and value. Two mains, two coffees and two liveners (large Malbec and a fresh orange and lemo) was just shy of £28. Staff were superb too. Didn't get the name of the lady who showed us to our table, but the waiter was Ben and he had a good manner.

The Malbec was spot-on, the chicken is a bun with fries and salad equally so, with crisp and dry chips, fresh and crunchy salad (none of that bagged rubbish with brown edges) and the chicken perfectly cooked.

We've eaten in some fantastic places; we've quaffed some quality wine; and we've had some appalling of each but today's experience was superb! Back again? Yes indeed. The gaffer was there yesterday with her mother and the Half Whale (yes, I know, whale is a mammal and not a fish!) was the dogs' danglies!

The choice is enormous, I would still be musing now if I wasn't given a nudge be 'Er Indoors.

Staying at Premier Inn next door so ate here Saturday 9 Nov.
We were a party of 5, with great service all the way through from Ryan - who worked hard at managing all his tables as far as we could see. Ordered from the early bird menu and got reasonable sized portions considering it was the cheaper deal (which had lots of menu options). Food arrived promptly but was only lukewarm.
We had starters all round, mains and no desserts - various cold drinks and coffees - and bill came to £65 so not bad for 5 people. Food not great quality but as good as you would expect in this type of establishment - Ryan and his colleagues made the difference or this would be a two star review.
We wanted to chat in the bar area after the meal, but this was challenging as you were either under a TV set showing sport, or a set of speakers playing loud music. We would have spent so much more and stayed so much longer if we could have relaxed!
Breakfast next morning was a reasonable selection of cold buffet options and 'as much as you like' hot breakfast. Again, hot food came lukewarm - i am guessing that the 'chef's' put out the food and it sits under hot lights until the server checks and brings it out. Which could be a problem if working with minimal staff.
All the staff at the Premier Inn (see sep review), and at dinner and breakfast at the Beefeater could not have been friendlier or worked harder.

Greeted with a friendly smile, menus and seated with drinks orders taken straight away.
The restaurant is tastefully decorated to create a warm and welcoming environment.
The drinks arrived with our orders taken in a timely manner, despite being extremely busy, and our waiter Ben, and others we espied, remaining very cheery and pleasant.
My partner opted for a starter of French Onion soup served with sourdough and a cheese topped scone, and I spicy calamari. Both were plentiful and absolutely delicious.
This was followed by rump of lamb, and fresh salmon both truly scrumptious and washed down with a very good bottle of house Chilean Sauvignon Blanc.
We gave desert a miss, but judging by those we witnessed being served we will definitely be back!!
Nothing is too much trouble for this team. Special thanks to Barry our chef, Ben our waiter and his colleagues for showing us simply perfect hospitality....
