This is a great area for a walk, is free (suggested donations) and was a lovely area to look around. Not sure about the fact that it is art though. Is quite hard to find though.

As a local resident I consider it to be a pleasant walk with friends and family. We have watched its construction with interest and over the last year have enjoyed walking on and around the sculpture and observed its development. The views from the forehead are amazing on a clear day; the coast and hills and even the extent of the open cast mining project, so well hidden at ground level, which gave birth to Northumberlandia. There is a much needed visitor centre and toilet facilities under construction on the site, ample parking (£2 donation suggested towards upkeep). Nearby Azure garden centre provides cafe/toilet facilities at present, and The Snowy Owl pub/restaurant is only 100 metres or so away. Yes it can be wild and windy up on top and there are no areas in which to shelter, but it is Northumberland! Some parts only reached by relatively steep climb, but the path around the sculpture is flat, wheelchair friendly and takes about 20 minutes at a stroll.

2 people - diverted on way north - Sat. Morn., early Nov. - 1st time visitors.
Free entry - a donation (£2 suggested) is asked for car parking.
They seem to be building a vistor centre, in amongst the trees, at the right of the access path.

Not as long spent here, as perhaps planned, as weather changed for the worse (heavy rain). However site seems to be developing/maturing well. Ethos of project def. to be applauded. We enjoyed walking some of the paths, the lakes and in particular the views to be had, of both the Lady and the surrounding area from the designated viewpoints and a high spot at the far end of the park (looking up at her from the feet). We do accept though, as others have said and photos bear out, the best view is probably to be had from above.

I agree with other reviewers that it is difficult to get the concept at ground level but it is a nice outing for about an hor our so - it is probably best to combine it with something else in the area raher than build a trip about it but it is fun and the views from the top are terrific.

My husband and I had been looking firward to visiting Northumberlandia as I am a big fan of public art installations and the development of industrial sites. It's a clever idea but despite my best efforts I just didn't get it. Obviously it will be best viewed from the air, so maybe a hot air balloon company might exploit this potential, although the wind is wild up there!
