Had a lovely stay at the very cosy warm guest house. Right on the door step to some trendy bars and restaurants, the Priory ruins and beach just a minutes walk way.
Ideal location, spot on for a weekend costal break.
Excellent full English breakfast, will stay again.

Stayed at Sally's fabulous Grade 2 listed Guest House with my husband last week, booked 3 nights but stayed for 4. We had 2 nights in the Village View room which has lots of period features and a lovely window seat to people watch from and 2 nights in Priory View room which has amazing views, binoculars included . Both rooms had very comfy beds so we slept very well, and are beautifully decorated and lots of extras including bath robes, toiletries and an exceptionally well stocked hospitality tray with several different teas, instant, decaf and filter coffee and wonderful home made shortbread biscuits, also bottles of water and even a small fridge in every room. Now for the breakfast...fantastic spoilt for choice lots to choose from, Sally uses the best local produce and even has her own Martineau sausage, she bakes her own bread, you eat in the kitchen with other guests which is a lovely friendly start to the day, lovely fresh fruit, both of us tried the big geordie breakfast, the best we have had, but couldn't manage it all, the eggs royal was outstanding with the best hollandaise sauce I have ever tasted, I had it twice! Parking is on Front St outside the guest house and you can get a permit from Sally for 50p a day, the bus stop is 2 mins away, the Metro about 10 mins if you want to go into Newcastle or further up the coast. The beach and Priory are 5mins away. There are some lovely walks and the beaches are wonderful, Tynemouth is a lovely village with plenty of lovely restaurants, cafes and shops and everyone is so friendly. This was our first visit to the Martineau but won't be our last we are hoping to come back in September, Sally is the perfect host, very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended good value for money.

centrally located in Tynemouth, we stayed in the priory room which is a good size room with stunning views out to sea. The room decor was lovely and some nice little touches like home made shortbread. The breakfast is outstanding. Sally cooks it whilst you sit in the farm house style kitchen. Great choice of cooked breakfasts all of which looked and tasted superb. A nice end to our C2C adventure.

We stayed here and used this as our base hotel for riding the coast-to-coast, Hadrian's Wall route in England. The room we had was excellent, the bed was comfortable and everything was clean Clean, there was full size toiletries, wonderful breakfast, easy to find on front Street. And above all some of the best service you will ever experience. Highly recommended.

I stayed here with my wife in the collingwood room. Sally the owner is very friendly with a easy going way about her and makes you feel welcome. The room had a sea view and was very clean the bed comfortable so had a great sleep. Ensuite is ideal. Breakfast was superb the best cooked breakfast I have had. Lovely fresh fruit also. I have stayed at the Grand hotel a few times but will go back here in future it's not cheap but you pay for what you get and it's definitely good value.

Went on the recommendation of a friend and it was just the perfect place. Only minutes from Newcastle, and on the metro, whilst feeling the sea breeze as if you were a million miles away. We were welcomed by the lovely Sally and immediately made to feel at home. The room was clean a great view and had all the small touches that make the difference ... Decent drinks, homemade shortbread, even an extra toothbrush. The house is stocked with new DVDs , games and books perfect for relaxing. We had plenty of places in tynemouth for ann evening meal. Raising for breakfast was joyous and the choice perfect. I went for smoked haddock, which was amazingly fresh and beautifully cooked. If you are in the area this is the guest house for you.

This was so lovely and Sally was welcoming. What's lovely about this property is the history...Lady Byron, one of the Bronte sisters not to mention Harriet herself. Sleeping in her room looking out at a view that inspired her to write... So very English.... And of course a breakfast with fresh fish x
