I have been to the Gib many times to enjoy the carvery that they offer and what can I say. For the price of 2 for £10 you can't complain can you. The meats on offer are cooked to perfection and the veg that accompanies it is rather nice.
The staff are very good too with an interesting mixture of ages which you don't see in other places which makes a nice change.
The only points that possibly stop this being a 5 is the fact tyne mouth is very busy and many people walking past look in and watch you eating which is slightly weird haha. Furthermore the atmosphere is good but could be better to be awarded the 5/5.
Overall an amazingly priced carvery for what you get and thoroughly enjoyable lunches.
7 or 8 out of 10 :)

When here on tuesday night with my nana and grandad. We got their around 4ish for a meal and we was shown to our table we ask to sit near a window as it was very hot. The staff came and took our drinks order and we was told when we are ready go go up for the meal. The food was lovely and the staff came to ask if everything was ok. I would say if you are nearby then pop in for some lunch its very good value for money, friendly staff and great choice of food.

We have enjoyed many a good carvery at the Gibraltar Rock over the years but tonight was an exception!
The food was good, not great but quite adequate and good value for two meals for £10. Well cooked with excellent yorkshires and a tasty gravey only let down by the broccoli which had a strange taste.
Unfortunately the restaurant was decidedly shabby. The carpet has gone leaving floor boards of poor quality and everywhere looked in need of refurbishment and painting. The artificial flower on each table would be best suited to to being in the bin. We were, at one time, the only diners until a family came in and due to lack of carpet the voices echoed round the room.
We asked for some water which arrived luke warm with no ice - undrinkable. The waitress stood yawning at the desk without even trying to disguise it. The music was not at all in keeping with enjoying a meal and a drink.
This was an experience we will not repeat until the Gibratar decides to improve it's standards.

We've used the Gib on a few occasions now. We have mixed feelings about it. Our first visit was excellent, although we had to wait quite a while for the food. It was worth it. The second visit, the order was wrong, but we very much enjoyed what was brought to us. The third visit, the food was cold by the time it got to us. Having spoken to others who eat there, it looks like the restaurant sometimes struggles to run smoothly, although when it does, you can expect excellent service, excellent food and a reasonable price. The staff are very friendly. They also do a very popular carvery, that we have yet to try. Don't let the little problems put you off visiting, because along with the beautiful beaches and castle right next to the restaurant and very friendly staff, the food well outweighs the little troubles you might experience. We will be back many times. Yes, we might have problems with our order, but we just can't justify using it as an excuse not to revisit again and again, no matter how hard we try.
