“Good”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

One of the most well-known fish and chips restaurant in Newcastle. The line-up to eat there or even take away is just crazy. The food taste is good, it's crunchy, not too oily, just right. The size is also quite generous. However, they don't really put attention to the food presentation. I suspect it's because people would still line up for their food anyway. Overall it's good.

“Poor features”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 May 2014 via mobile

Visited on a busy bank-holiday Monday to find a massive waiting line for both the takeaway and restaurant sections. After waiting for a while we finally managed to order only for the wrong food to come.
Unfortunately by the time we realised we were 10 minutes away and although the food we had been given wasn't bad, it was not what we asked for.

“It's officially a ritual”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Took some friends from Manchester and Newcastle to this little gem in Tynemouth. They weren't too impressed by the fact that there was close to no queue when we got there but soon regretted that thought as the queue quickly developed to more than 25 behind us, in just 2 minutes! And regretted their doubt even more when they tasted the haddock and chips.

Food was fantastic as usual. Price was reasonable too. No trip to Tynemouth will be complete without having fish and chips from Marshalls, unless they have a day off.

“A traditional chippy”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 April 2014

The interior appeared recently renovated with fresh, soft-coloured paintwork and new net curtains. Tables were cleaned promptly after being vacated by customers and service was friendly and efficient. I ordered haddock - which meant a wait while it was battered and deep-fried - and it was deliciously fresh with light, crispy batter. The chips, however, were a disappointment. Adequate as a carrier for the condiments supplied but not up to Marshall's usual standard - maybe it was the variety of potato used on this occasion. My only real criticism would be of the seating arrangements: each table has 4 - 6 seats attached - fine for families and youngsters but older/disabled customers with limited mobility would experience difficulties manoeuvering in and out.
