I booked this place because the nearby Grand Hotel was full. When swiping my card at check-in, I asked if the card was being debited in advance, to be told it was. Observing that this was unusual, the receptionist couldn't say why. Having used the WiFi in the bar for an hour (signal doesn't go to the rooms) I went for walk. Realising on return that despite having paid, I didn't want to stay here (lights missing in the room, bed frame split / falling apart, sticky carpets, very tatty fabric beyond reception, very old / tatty furniture in room), I booked a taxi and enjoyed a pleasant stay at the Village Hotel. This was a first!

Don't stay here.

Room Tip: Go to the nearby Village Hotel

the room was large and bed was very comfy, large bathroom had overbath shower and heated towel rail. The hotel in general was clean and well run and was obviously being redecorated. Food was exellent though limited but staff were very helpfull. Limited entertainment but then it is out of season at the present time.

Valentines day madness!!!! My boyfriend god love him decided we would go to the sunny climes of tynemouth for a meal and then a stay over in a hotel, shame he picked the park!!! bar area on close inspection falling to pieces, and the rooms very basic, a few drinks later and it all seemed ok. Not the sort of place you want for a romantic night. I have made him pay for his mistake since!!

Room Tip: ask for sea view as that is its only saving grace

Booked for one night @£55.00 (breakfast £6.50pp extra). The hotel is tired with the rooms in need of a refurbish.
Bad points: TV didn't work, old bathroom ware, peeling wallpaper etc ec. Couldn't turn heating off which is funny because when I was at reception there was a guy complaining he couldn't get his on. Noisy Metro tram line at rear so ask for a front room
Good points: Room was as clean as it could be. Location (overlooks the beach at the front) and relatively cheap compared to surrounding hotels. Free on-site parking.
Breakfast was self-service but everything and I mean everything was cold. Good choice for an english breakfast but cold. Girl on duty tried hard but was ran off her feet!!!

The saving grace of this hotel is the location which brings up its average score.

Room Tip: Ask for a front room for the views and to avoid the Metro line at rear.

I will never set food in this dump again as long as I live! And there's no point complaining because they don't care, they've already got your money, why should they do anything about the filthy, stinking, mouldy rooms!
