“Out of season stay.”
Reviewed 3 March 2014 for a stay in February 2014

This is by far the best holiday home i have stayed in. It is clean, modern and spacious. It has everything you need for your stay. It is situated in a central location to visit the highlands of Scotland. Close to both mountains and coast. We were given a warm welcome and farewell by the owner Tony. I had one of the best weeks away for some considerable time. I am already planning to return.

“Simply Outstanding!”
Reviewed 11 August 2013 for a stay in February 2013

Being our first trip to the Highlands, and Ballachulish seemingly well located (25 minute drive to Fort William), we booked 5 nights at Kinloch Lodge on the strength of the glowing reviews & photos on here.

We arrived at an agreed time & were warmly greeted by Tony who then gave us a guided tour (and a central heating demo). The lodge is tastefully decorated in a contemporary style while still feeling traditional. The furniture was solid, comfy & of high quality. Someone clearly has an eye for interior design.

The lounge has two 2-seater sofas, 2 armchairs, and a plethora of scatter cushions & throws. There is an extremely effective freestanding fire which made for nice warm cosy evenings. For entertainment, there's a large plasma TV with Sky+. There's also an Xbox with a couple of games, a few DVDs, and a Highlands edition of Monopoly.

The kitchen-diner has a decent sized dining table, a stereo with a selection of CDs, two farmhouse-style sinks, a double oven range, washing machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, and every item of crockery, cutlery, cookware & utensil could you possibly think of.

Serously... bottle opener, can opener, sieve, spatulas, gravy jug, scales, rammekins, champagne flutes... you name it, Tony & Mairi have thought of it. There were even tablets for the dishwasher & washing machine, washing-up liquid, scourer sponges, rolls of tin foil, kitchen roll... I could go on! Even the shelves & trays in the oven had been pre-wrapped in foil to save on washing up.

The downstairs bathroom has a toilet, sink, heated towel rail, and the all important jacuzzi bath. For reference, this is a one person bath, but SO relaxing after a long day's exploring!

There are 2 bedrooms upstairs. As we didn't need it, bedroom 2 remained locked. But the master bedroom was plush. Big comfy kingsize bed, loads of cushions, an armchair, en-suite bathroom with its own shower cubicle, large wardrobe with lots of hangers, plenty of drawer space, and a wall-mounted TV with freeview. There was even an iron, ironing board & clothes airer in the wardrobe. Plenty of towels were provided in both bathrooms.

All rooms at the rear of the lodge (lounge, kitchen & bedroom) had great mountain views, while the nearby lochside garden provided stunning panoramic views across Loch Leven. Kinloch Lodge has every home comfort... and then some! It was beautiful, well appointed and immaculate. We loved our time here and can't wait to return!

Many thanks guys! x

“5 stars...and then some !!”
Reviewed 21 April 2013 for a stay in April 2013

After seeing the photographs on the website and the reviews we were expecting accommodation of a high standard but the reality far exceeded this. As soon as you arrive and are warmly greeted by Tony and Mairi you know that they care about your time spent at Kinloch Lodge. This place is really special and Tony and Mairi have put a lot of effort into making it a home for everyone that stays there. The décor is just wonderful: lots to remind you that you are in Scotland without going overboard. The rooms are a really good size: the living room feels cosy but is really spacious at the same time, I think the big windows really add to this; the kitchen is huge and is so well equipped it made my own kitchen seem very inadequate by comparison. Everything in the house from the furniture down to the toaster is the best quality.
The house is in a great location, it’s pretty much surrounded by mountains so you really get a sense of getting away from it all but it’s actually close to one of the main routes through Scotland. This means that it’s a great base for exploring the area, which is exactly what we did: we went on a day trip from Oban to Mull, Iona and Staffa (Staffa is amazing, please go and see for yourselves); we had a fantastic drive over to the lighthouse at Ardnamurchan Point; we went monster hunting at Loch Ness and drove over to Mallaig for the best fish and chips we’d ever had.
After all that sightseeing it was brilliant being able to come back home to Kinloch Lodge each evening at relax, we instantly felt comfortable there. It was really difficult to leave at the end of the week so I’m sure we’ll be back in the near future.
