“Luxurious night in the Highlands!”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

We spent one night at Glencoe House, but would have gladly spent more. From the moment we arrived, we felt taken care of. We had reserved the 2 bedroom suite (family of four with two kids, 9 and 13) and were stunned by the size. It felt luxurious! We took a short hike around the loch, which was wonderful. We enjoyed the in-suite dinning, although the service was a little slow (apparently everyone "ate in" that night and all scheduled for the same time), but the food was exquisite. And breakfast was very filling! I would highly recommend this place.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much. I am sure the space in the large suite was appreciated by your children so that they could play freely without having to 'keep it down' for other guests. One of our aims is to provide great Highland hospitality and we are really happy that you felt so looked after. This is exactly what we are aiming for. Thank you for your positive feedback on the food, which you indicate was of a high quality and plentiful. Our chefs would hate to think of anyone going hungry! The only issue you seem to have was the speed of the dinner service. This can be a difficult one to meet different guest expectations but it is something that we will certainly look into further so thank you for highlighting it. We hope to be able to welcome you back to Glencoe House soon.

Best wishes,
The Glencoe House Team

Our stay at Glencoe House was a treat. From the moment we stepped into the hotel and were greeted with a glass of champagne until we left the next day the experience was a delight. As 4 adults traveling together imagine how pleasant it was to be staying in a suite where we were close and could share the living room and sitting room yet retreat to two magnificantly appointed bed rooms without going any great distance. The furnishings were comfortable and well appointed and not over-the-top. Every moment felt comfortable and many little details were appreciated - down to the full bottles of Aveda Shampoos in the bathroom. What can not be described adequately are the views from the suites or the pleasure of dining in the room for both dinner and breakfast the next day enjoying superb meals prepared on site. Even though there was a family staying in the suite above us only once did we hear their running and jumping as the House is substantially built. Would I love to return again? Certainly - only next time it would be wonderful to stay longer and enjoy the fireplace in the room or the tub with views of the mountains or another fine meal ensuite.........

Room Tip: Every room has a view so you really can not go wrong.

Thank you for taking the time for posting a review. We are extremely happy that you enjoyed your stay so much. We do try to think of those little things, such as the Aveda products, that make the difference when you are away from home. I am sure having dinner in the suite will have allowed your group to have a good laugh without feeling need to stifle it for other guests! The champagne is ice for your next visit…we hope to welcome you back soon.

From the moment we arrived to the sadness of our departure we were treated to outstanding service of five star quality. The setting of this late 19th Century Scottish Mansion is stunning.
The quality of the furnishings within your own suites give you the feeling of your very own luxury home from home. The dinner was well presented, exquisitely cooked and made from locally sourced high quailty ingredients and the wine we chose from a small but thoughtful supply left in the Bar great value.Breakfast was served from an extensive menu in our suite and again was well presented , high quality and very filling. This place must be the outstanding place to stay in the Highlands. We are looking forward to our next visit.

I have to agree with the other reviewers. This place was amazing. It was as if you had arrived at your own manor home. Anne and Roger try very hard to make certain you feel welcome and that you enjoy your stay.

We were amazed by the size of the rooms. We had our own living room, dining room, bedroom, and very large bathroom. The furniture is a combination of old and new. The bathrooms have been completely modernized and are new. We had a fireplace in the room ready to use...all we had to do was light it. This place has character and charm.

We were a little uncertain about dining in the room, but it was wonderful. We had an amazing view of the loch while we enjoyed a delicious dinner in the privacy of our own dining area. The bar was the fullest stocked bar we have ever seen, again, right in our own dining room. The staff was lovely.

We would stay at Glencoe House again without a second thought. Delightful!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the loch from the dining room so you can enjoy the view while you dine...

Thank you so much for posting a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much and that you felt that you effectively had your own manor house; this is exactly what we were aiming to do in the design of the suites. As you note, the in-suite dining is a new concept, but clearly it was one that you enjoyed. It is a relaxed way to dine and you do not have to fight with other guests to get the coveted table by the window for the loch view!

We hope to be able to welcome you back to Glencoe House in the near future.

The Glencoe House is a gorgeously maintained building and the suites are stuffed with character. With different room combinations to suit any group and a fireplace in the separate sitting room, this was already a great place to stay. Add in that we had our own dining room and hosted our group of seven for breakfast the next morning (in our suite...); or maybe the choice of whiskeys to a stocked bar; or just a great shower in the luxury bathroom; or well, maybe just the stunning view of the lake from our window. The receptionist was top notch and we really enjoyed our stay. Well done.

Room Tip: You need to consult, each room/suite is different and you should really consider the choices. Howe...

Thank you for taking the trouble to post a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay so much and that your group of 7 were able to come together in your suite for breakfast; after all it means you can discuss your day's activities uninterrupted! As you have seen the rooms are quite unique but equally luxurious. We hope you will return to test out another one!

If I could do it again, I would base my whole trip to the Scottish Highlands around this place. From the moment you walk in, to the moment you leave, you will feel nothing but happiness and warmth. Glencoe House is a restored manor with plenty of history and character to it. As such, there are only a few "rooms"...each having its own unique charm.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a glass of Champagne while the staff carried our luggage to our room. Our room was absolutely wonderful...we requested and were able to stay in Suite 2...which I fell in love with. First, the room...if you can call it that...is huge. There is an entrance foyer, a spacious bedroom, bathroom with separate tub area that looks out onto your private terrace, living area with wood burning fireplace (swoon~~), dining nook overlooking the loch with a fully stocked whiskey bar, and a working desk area. Overall, I wouldn't change a thing about this room.

I know many travelers are skeptical of the in-room dining concept but let me tell you, it is a real treat to be able to enjoy a high end meal in the comfort of your robe and slippers with the fireplace going. We had the pleasure of ordering the seafood platter which was absolutely wonderful. The platter included copious amounts of oysters, clams, mussels, lobster, crab, langoustines, razor clam and shrimp...we were unable to finish all of it. There is a reasonable selection of wines to go with your meal as well as the aforementioned whiskey bar.

Anne and Roger are some of the loveliest people you will ever meet...and are more than happy to accommodate your every request. Should we ever find ourselves in Scotland again, this will be the very first place we return to.

Room Tip: Every room is probably lovely but I am biased. I loved room #2 and everything about it.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. We are delighted that you enjoyed all that suite 2 has to offer! Given the historic nature of the building, we are blessed with not only an array of period features but the size of the rooms were also built to impress. We are extremely happy that you enjoyed the in-room dining so much. As you infer, it has to be experienced to be believed. The fresh, locally sourced seafood is also a treat; there is something special in eating the wonderful seafood while look on the loch where it was caught. No air miles there!

We hope that you return to Scotland to Glencoe House in particular. The champagne is on ice…
