“Interesting!”

We found this museum totally by accident and were happily delighted that we did. The volunteer staff member was extemely friendly and very well informed and happy to answer all our questions. it is fascinating and gave a real sense of the type of cottage at the time of the Glencoe massacre and contained a lot of artifacts. Not to be missed is the incredible thatched roof.

“A wee gem showcasing folk life (and much more)”
Reviewed 9 September 2012

I've been to Glenoce lots of times and always enjoy visiting the Folk Museum. The collections are fascinating and there's somethign for every interest. As well as lots of objects relating to folk life, and the local area, there are so many other fabulous things to see, including costume and collections of ephemera.

“Delightful museum with room for improvement”
Reviewed 8 September 2012

My husband and I visited this museum in a combined trip to see family and other sights, and we were genuinely glad that we came. There are many areas of interest, and lots of lovely little pieces. The member of staff we met was lovely - warm, welcoming and friendly. Took time to talk through a couple of the pieces with us, and undoubtedly would have answered any other questions we had.
I feel that some elements of this museum are tired - some of the signage looks like it's been in place too long and could do with a refresh. The thatching on the gorgeous croft roof is in need of replacing, and it would certainly benefit the museum if a toilet could be installed.
Having said thus much, I'd gladly return to this museum.
