This was our first dive trip to Salt Cay and hopefully not our last. Debbie Manos of Salt Cay Divers helped set us up. We flew into Provo and got an early flight the next morning on Caicos Express. Debbie picked us up at the airport, took us to our lovely apartment at Tradewinds and then to a grocery store and we managed to get in the water before noon! It's still a bit off-season so we found ourselves diving with just us and Richard, our divemaster. He was fabulous, making sure we only went to calm seas so Paul wouldn't get seasick. Rest stops are on land. The diving is wall and shallows with lots of fish, creatures and coral formations, little to no current and clear visibility. Lionfish have invaded and we watched Richard capture some. Video is on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T2SsKz9Wfqc. This island is tiny and bikes come with the apartment. It's a short walk to the dive dock. Golf carts are available to rent and we took one for an afternoon visit to the beautiful North Beach. We keep kosher and cook in, so didn't sample the restaurants. Fresh fish is available from fishermen near the dive boat dock. For anyone else cooking, it would be a good idea to pick up some produce in Provo before heading to Salt Cay. Debbie was great about getting us some things from the restaurant's stock. This is NOT the place for you if you like resort hotels with pools, casinos, nightclubs, etc. It's absolutely perfect for diving, visiting with locals and relaxing in a hammock with a good book. Enjoy!
