“Still Perfect!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2013

Last month my husband and I took our third trip to Parrot Cay. It simply does not disappoint. The service, food and location are truly amazing. The spa is not only gorgeous but has great treatments and masseuses ( Thank You Siki)

We saw a lot of the same people we have seen over the past few years. Why go elsewhere when this place has it all?
As I have mentioned before, if you are looking for wild nightlife, this is not the resort for you.
But if you are looking to unwind, de-stress and reconnect in a gorgeous setting with great food and incredible service, then go!

My husband and I recently stayed at Parrot Cay for 6 nights. We are both very busy professionals and constantly stressed out. Our experience at Parrot Cay was the best thing that could have happened for us!
The resort is located on a private island, which is perfect for relaxing in luxury. Every morning began with an amazing breakfast, followed by beach activities (we went bonefishing, catamaraning, paddleboarding, kayaking, and windsurfing), followed by tea time (we would play ping-pong and billiards while enjoying midday tea), followed by an hour of tennis, followed by 5 pm pilates, followed by sunset in the spa jacuzzi. Dinner was at one of two restaurants and was so fresh, vibrant, and healthy (the food may have been the best I have ever eaten at a resort). They also had a low-calorie cocktail menu that was incredible.
Spa services were also excellent.
The beaches were spectacular and the waters crystal clear. The resort staff was warm and welcoming. There is not one negative thing we could say about our experience. We only wish we had more time at Parrot Cay! Highly recommend this resort!

Room Tip: The beach houses looked amazing... would definitely opt for a private villa next time!

We recently spent 5 nights at Parrot Cay and thoroughly enjoyed the resort and its facilities. The Beach House accommodation was tastefully furnished, it offered plenty of room, with the additional benefit of two bathrooms. It was secluded with a small patio and jacuzzi. The Beach House was metres away from a beautiful beach and the ocean. Walking along the beach was a great way to exercise each morning and afternoon. We used the facilities on offer at the Spa and had a very good Thai massage. Breakfast was served either inside or out and the choice was exceptionally good. The staff were both friendly and helpful throughout the resort. We dined at both restaurants and drank in both bars and were very happy with both. We swam in the infinity pool and sat in the library. After our stay we felt rejuvenated. We would definitely return and have already recommended the resort to some friends.

We have travelled extensively to numerous beach resorts all over the world (particularly in Asia) and I must say that Parrot Cay (the resort itself) just does not stack up in terms of facilities and service. It's saving grace really is the amazing waters where the property is located.

There's nothing particularly wrong with the property, but it's just a very basic resort for the price you're paying. The rooms are nicely done up, nothing lavish or particularly outstanding. Daily afternoon tea at the library is a nice touch too. The spa is good too but decor/setup was nothing special. The food was good - pretty authentic Southeast Asian cuisine at the poolside restaurant. But there is just one main pool and it is just a tiny square. Sure, you have the amazing clear blue shallow sea just steps away, but this is still a resort and I still want to have an option of a nice pool to hang around!

The real downer was the service. Let me explain - the resort hires a mix of local and Balinese staff. The service from the Balinese staff was outstanding (as usual, the Balinese are known for their hospitality). The service from local T&C staff was bad - they were aloof, nonchalant, reactive rather than proactive in their customer service. This is just not acceptable for what is supposed to be a top end resort.

Thank you very much for your review.

I am sorry that we did not meet all of your expectations during your vacation.

We pride ourselves on outstanding service from all of our employees, not just the ones from Asia, and I will certainly be addressing this with the team.

I must say that I am somewhat surprised by your comments about the size of our pool, the pool is 81 ft by 76 ft, which is actually very large, in addition to this all of our beach accommodations have private polls, as such the main pool caters to our 40 hotels rooms and we have always found that the size of the pool when added to a mile of private beach more than meets the needs of our guests.

Parrot Cay made has made me break two of my golden rules:

1) Despite holidaying extensively read but don’t write on TripAdvisor.
2) It’s a wide world so never return to the same place twice.

Just back from my first stay at Parrot Cay and had a wonderful time.
The villa room (701) had a partial sea view and was simply and
stylishly furnished. Great products in the bathroom from the Spa and
spotlessly clean.
The beach is beautiful and the use of various boats and boards was fun
if you want to do more than soak up the sun.
Excursions : Iguana island does what it says, not sure how excited you
are by that. We did it as part of the snorkelling trip. The reef is
beautiful and whilst the diversity of sea life doesn’t match the
Maldives, The corals were better and we didn’t see any whales or sea
turtles in the Maldives whereas we did here.
Food was very high quality; we did the meal deal which meant we
probably ate too much (full breakfast and 3 courses twice a day) but
worked out cheaper than if we’d gone without. If you think you can’t
face that much food there are lots of healthy options so can be
lighter than it may sound.
Didn’t do the Spa so can’t judge, they seemed a bit exorbitant (even
with a favourable exchange rate) but everyone we spoke to said they
were worth every penny.
The thing that really made the trip, and makes me want to hurry back,
is the standard of service. It really was impressive without being
obsequious, they remembered people’s foibles (I hate coriander for
example) as well as their drinks preferences. They were there when
you needed them and didn’t pester when you didn’t need them.
They made me feel as important and as valued as the A list movie and
rock stars that were also at the resort. Also as a gay couple we
didn’t encounter any of the homophobia Turks and Caicos Islands are
sadly known for.

My only negative comments would concur with the previous poster about
the behaviour of the few children who were present in the resort. Not
sure what the management can do about it to be honest. Providing
crèche facilities or playgrounds just encourages more families to
visit a place whose tag line is “Silence is the new luxury”. I just
wish that parents would understand that not everyone is as enamoured
with hearing they “little darlings” as much as they are, though this
is a universal problem and not limited to Parrot Cay!

Amazing beaches, fantastic spa, beautiful pool, friendly staff, great breakfasts and super accommodation.

There were a few couples with very young children but in the main we managed to avoid them by sticking to the beach rather than the pool and eating later in the evening.

Our only disappointment was the food, aside from the great breakfast it really isn't up to scratch for the type of hotel and for the price. The Lotus restaurant by the pool was the better option but overall it wasn't what we'd expected.

I am happy that you enjoyed your vacation with us, but disappointed that you did not enjoy the food, which we usually get rave reviews about, it would certainly help me to make improvements, if you could email me on grant.noble@comohotels.com, with more specific feed back on that point.

Thank you and best wishes.

First the good news
The food - a lot of choice in the Lotus restaurant, a huge selection of healthy drinks, the Como Shambala menu full of healthy food that you actually want to eat and great breakfasts.
The spa - always good and the free yoga and pilates and breathing classes offered are a really nice touch.
The Beach is great and service pretty prompt although I agree with others that the chairs on the beach could def do with some extra cushions to make them more comfortable.

The bad news
Rooms are really really noisy if you are on the ground floor and if you have children in the room above then do not expect to find them in any way peaceful. The sound of children above us constantly padding up and down was very loud so def ask for a room on the upper floor if you don't have any.

In fact children are the main problem here. For a hotel that offers such a great spa and does alot of packages advertising a change to come and chill and be calm it seems to have forgotten that you may want some calm peace once you step out of the spa. If you want to attract the custom of the snowbirds, the elderly retired couples, gay couples and the honeymooners then the management really does have to rethink the fact that children here need to be contained. The pool is far too noisy and for a hotel with a lot of space feels really crammed in. Every day we went to the bar to get drinks before lunch it was like walking into an amusement arcade with children sitting in there on a variety of ipads and computers and games all with maximum noise levels. There is no area that does not have children apart from the spa, as there is no official kids club, the activitites happen right outside the library or on the beach and even in the evenings we had to ask the management to talk to two families who were happy to let their children run around the dining room at 8.30pm while a lot of people were wanting to have a quiet dinner.

In other Parrot Cay resorts we have visited such as Cocoa Island this has never been a problem at all, but it made what was meant to be a relaxing peaceful trip somewhat fraught and I think the management should really take note or alert guests to the fact that they are really just wanting to cater for families.

Thank you very much for your review.

I am very pleased that you enjoyed the facilities, food, service and spa.

Parrot Cay is a family friendly resort, and at certain times of the year, primarily during the major US holidays we do have a lot of children on the resort, and whilst we do not have a dedicated children's club, we do have a robust children's program in place to keep them entertained.

We certainly do not attempt to hide or keep this a secret, however I will make sure that the team are very open about this fact.

Best Wishes
