“Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2013

From the moment Kathryn met us at the door we were made to feel like treasured friends and not paying guest, The quality and comfort cannot be beaten - homemade jam, marmalade muesli and biscuits were a lovely touch. Kathryn and Peter's knowledge of the area was superb and the advice they shared proved invaluable and they went out of their way to ensure everyone was happy in their home. Everything you could want was available, down to a shovel to dig on the Hot Water Beach. The view was really something. The only negative was you need a car to get into town for food, but the welcome, breakfast and comfort here more than made up for that. Would highly recommend this lovely home and would definitely stay again if we return to New Zealand.

Excellent value as a top quality, friendly, well-situated immaculate home. Huge breakfast where quality matched quantity. Wentworth Valley, Opoutere Beach are wonderful trips within a short distance. Kathryn & Peter are excellent hosts.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a view.

We had the good fortune to stay with Peter and Kathryn recently in their wonderful B&B. Our room was a delight with additional treats such as chocolates and port which enhanced our stay! The views from our room were outstanding and it was lovely to be able to sit on the balcony relaxing after a long day travelling. Peter and Kathryn made us feel immediately at home and were so helpful when we had a problem with our Hertz hire car. Breakfast was also excellent. The biggest regret we had was that we had booked for one night only. Should we visit New Zealand again we wouldn't hesitate to book the Pacific View and for more than one night!

Great to hear that you enjoyed your brief stay so much. With all the disasters you experienced (from the Hertz Rental car failures to the unsatisfactory accommodation in the north) it meant that your stay at Pacific View shone even brighter! Such a shame you could have just one night with us, but we understand when our visitors are on tight deadlines. Remember to make it 3 nights next time! Come back again soon. K&P

From the moment we walked into the door, it was a very warm and welcoming place. The Pacific View B & B exceeded all our expectations. Lovely, super clean room, tasty breakfast and hosts that went out of their way to make our short stay perfect. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks to Kathryn and Peter

We were so lucky you both came knocking on our door - and it was just such a shame your stay was so short. Nevertheless we thoroughly enjoyed hosting you and are pleased to hear that you found everything at Pacific View to your satisfaction. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Coromandel Peninsula again some day. Kathryn & Peter

Pacific View Bed and Breakfast is located high upon the hillside overlooking the town of Whangamata with stunning views stretching out across the Pacific Ocean.
Kathryn and Peter opened their door and warmly welcomed us into their beautiful home. We had the privilege to be the first guests to stay in the newly converted guest room with a large well appointed ensuite. All spotlessly clean with modern decor plus beautiful linen.
Kathryn and Peter provide special little touches that make the difference to your holiday experience such as pre-dinner drinks where they would provide invaluable local knowledge to ensure we got the best out of our stay. Plus home baking every afternoon and beautiful breakfasts with lots of variety and choice coupled with that spectacular breathtaking view
Like us Kathryn and Peter have travelled extensively too, so they know what to provide for their guests...high standards and fantastic hospitality!
It was a very memorable part of our New Zealand experience so thank you Kathryn and Peter and if we pass your way again we'll certainly ensure we stay once more.
Highly recommended :D

Kathryn and Peter are outstanding hosts who go the extra mile. Luggage lift an extra bonus. Extra touches in the room, flowers, chocolates, home baking and complimentary port complimented the outstanding sea and rural views along with a warm welcome and cup of tea with them on arrival. Breakfasts were beautiful especially home-made muesli which preceded fabulous selection of cooked breakfasts. They have great knowledge of the Coromandel and provided us with a great selection of walks. One of which "wentworth falls" about an hours walk is a must see. Look forward to a return in the not to distant future. You would be hard pressed to find more accommodating hosts.

Kathryn and Peter are great hosts who know how to make guests feel welcome in their wonderful B&B/home. They have both travelled extensively so know what guests want.
We chose to dine in and Kathryn prepared a delicious beef bourguignon with tiramisu for dessert.
Breakfast included juice, freshly squeezed from oranges growing on the tree just outside the dining room door. Hard to beat that.
On the practical side we stayed in the Pacific King Room which has a stunning view. The bed was comfortable and our sleep undisturbed despite it being a very windy night. The en-suite is a good size and well designed. There is a lift for the luggage and those who can't manage stairs.
Would we stay here again? Yes
