Description: Dine at New Zealand's most beautiful beach destination This exceptionally popular evening restaurant is where fresh food enjoys a fusion with the modern cuisine of New Zealand and the Mediterranean. Famous in Whangamata and beyond, Neros enjoys a smart but relaxed ambience with a distinct seaside feel. In addition to restaurant dining both footpath and beautiful courtyard garden are complete with fire tables to provide a perfect stage for a wonderful night out at New Zealand's most beautiful beach destination.

New addition of outdoor dining area is a great bonus. We haven't been here for five years and we were not disappointed. Wonderful food, excellent service and great value. Can certainly recommend the lamb fillet with Morroccan couscous

Good variety of food, nice display of menu etc. Just has a good flow of space, both indoors and outdoors. Tables and customers tended to constantly. I felt my money was spent wisely here, meals look just right for size. Real food with a good presentation

As we live in Whanga we go to Nero’s every now and again but since they’ve done up the courtyard it now looks really fab – a lovely outdoor casual environment - a great place where you can relax and enjoy good food and wine. We ate here on Easter Saturday and enjoyed good service and great music by the lovely CORAL PITCHER. We paid $211 for 5 people Which included 5 mains, 2 starters, 2 bottles of wine – great value I think. My thin based Pizza was so yummy I ate the lot!
Whangamata was over-flowing with people during Easter which meant that our restaurants, cafes and Takeaways really struggled – hence the previous reviewer’s comments – which in the circumstances were probably a little unfair. We'll keep coming back to Nero's.

Wewent to Nreos because my wife spotted a deliceous looking Rissoto on their menu on the web. Unfortunately it was no longer on the menu.
we chose g
some quick and easy to prepare gucamoli and salsa with corn chips as as starter because they were busy and our meals were predicted to take an hour to serve. Bad choice . The gucamoli tasted like it came out of a processed pack and the salsa was just a chutney of some sort.
Pizza and pasta to follow for mains. Pizza was OK - Moroccan lamb but very plain - no spices like you would expect with Moroccan. Pasta was watery with the sauce barely clinging to the penne tubes. Definately needed a spoon to scoop up the liquid. Penne did not taste fresh - just the dried version from supermarket, would be much nicer with fresh fetuccini like we expected.- and creamy thick suace. Had a very mediocre bottle of Shiraz to accompany the meal. Coffees were OK, but need some work on the capaccino. Whatever happened to thick velvet foam, I thought all kiwi barristas knew how to do that by now.

Interestingly, not only Chef, but also kitchen staff and wait staff remember this table very well.

At Neros we take on board all feedback as an essential part of our constant improvement programme. We accept that sometimes we can get it wrong and only ask for an opportunity to put it right – at the time. This particular customer insisted the meal was re fired against Chefs specific advice and did not like the result, and was not charged, as nothing seemed to suit.

As a result, rather than discuss the issue with management, a copy of the same review has been posted on 2 web sites.

We would respectfully point out to readers that there are two sides to every story.
