The view from our water's edge apartment balcony was magnificent! The apartments are well-proportioned, and a laundry room was a bonus. Everything about the apartment was great, but the delivered-the-night-before continental breakfast! Save your money - it cost $15 and was worth less than half of that. Go out for breakfast to one of the cafes in Turangi. You won't regret it!

As soon as you pull into Oreti Village Resort you know you've found somewhere special. Tucked away from the main tourist areas, it's the perfect place to relax and enjoy beautiful Lake Taupo. Quiet, spacious, well-furnished and equipped, our loft apartment was in of the lakeside cottages, and the view was something to behold - even on the one day it rained, we didn't want to be anywhere else. The resort is close enough to the Turangi shops to make self-catering an easy option, and the on-site restaurant is a good (though rather expensive) option if you want to treat yourself. Our only gripe was the internet charges, though this seems very common throughout NZ. Overall, a great place to stay.

Room Tip: The loft apartments have the best views.

This is the place if you want complete relaxation. All the accommodation has beautiful panoramic uninterupted views of Lake Taupo. You will awake to the sound of bellbirds (Korimako). There were four of these delightful birds in a tree outside our apartment. The quails come to visit early morning, the woodpigeons early evening just before dusk. They flitter backwards and forwards between the trees. It is a good location if you have a boat, lots of good launching facilities nearby and plenty of secure boat parking on site. Loved it, I shall really miss the birds

Pros: The appartments at Oreti are among the best we have tried during our 3 weeks travel across NZ. The facilities include everything you could imagine like washing machine, dryer, etc. The views from the appartments over Taupo lake are fabulous. Very close to Tongariro national park.

Cons: The territory of Oreti looks a bit abandoned. The walking path to the lake seems to be neglected a long time ago. Not sure who owns this part of the ground, but I guess that Oreti could invest some money to clean it up a bit and repair the stairs on the lakeshore. Also an old- fashioned crt-tv units in the appartments look a bit odd in comparison with the overall level of equipment.

Room Tip: Loft appartments on the second line have wonderful views over the lake.

Great find, would highly recommend. Location is unbeatable and fantastically spacious rooms, all at a really good rate. Nice little bar and the restaurant is great too. Will be returning. Can recommend to all.
