My wife and I stayed at the Lodge 7th and 8th July 2012. We had an executive suite which was very spacious and well appointed with a spectacular view down the canal. A kingsize bed, ample clothes storage for a longer stay, a dining table, writing desk, sofa, all made for a very relaxing environment. There was also a toaster and microwave available in the room. Staff were pleasant and helpful. We ate at both of the restaurants underneath the Lodge and enjoyed the hospitable staff at each. Food was basic, in good quantities and tasty. Noise from the bar did not worry us as we were at the end of the complex and totally undisturbed. The let down was in the detail. The corridoe outside our room had an unpleasant smell, a wardrobe door was off one hinge, one hook was off the drapes, wall paper was lifting, the instructions for the tv and the dvd were incorrect, one window would not open the other would not close. These little things were unfortunate. Having said that we had a great weekend.

Room Tip: Choose the Marina executive suite as a first choice otherwise ask for a room that will not be noisy...

We stayed here last Saturday night. I agree with earlier reviews. The room was clean and presentable. The reception staff pleasant and helpful. The bar just opposite was very noisy and open till late, made worse since we couldn't close the top windows to shut out the noise. The Carpe Diam restaurant served tasty, but basic food, which was overpriced. Breakfast was like motorway cafe food. Overall okay accom, but much too expensive

We stayed in March 2012 for three nights. The motel is in a nice setting and forms part of a modern complex which includes a couple of decent restaurants and a few shops that overlook the small marina. There are a few other local shops just across the road including the best takeaway fish & chip shop I've ever come across but there is little else of interest as the area is mostly residential..Our room was situated on the 1st floor (there is a lift) had all mod cons and was a decent size with a balcony that overlooked the Italian syle piaza and marina.
Unfortunately, the bar below seems to attract a lot of locals for outside drinking sessions and the associated shouting, whooping etc. started at midday and carried on until midnight and spoilt the 3 days we were there.
I wouldn't want to be there over a weekend!

Room Tip: Avoid rooms overlooking the piazza

My wife and I stayed for 6 nights in march from the time we checked in the staff were unpleasant as I counted approx 8 persons whom were suppossed staff members although you wouldn't know about it unless they were behind the counter as only two had name tags on and know one had uniforms that represented where they worked very unprofessional as my wife and I are resort managers in noosa qld Australia.
I agree with the previous comments reference markings on walls and noise, every single wall including our bedroom had patchwork and the bar downstairs every single night past 11pm music and patrons very inconsiderate & when enquiring from staff about excevise noise a simple schrug of the shoulders response.we had to move rooms the first night as the fridge was faulty the lamp was broken the tv had bad reception so they upgraded us to a king size room which we were greatful about however the second day we were in there and we were out for the day a banner had appeared hanging from our balcony with the word "hotel" on it when our door had do not disturb on it which was not respected as I thought we were staying in a lodge not a hote. The Thai restraunt downstairs was apauling and the restraunt carpe Diam's service was shocking, it was untidy and one on the windows had a kiss mark on it. There were a lot I could go on about but could not find the room.i grew up on the coast and always dreamt staying at the lodge as a child but this experience has turned my wife and I staying here again so I recamend if you like staying up very late by noise and woken early by construction then I recamend it but if not stay very far away

Room Tip: Not at gulf harbour

We stayed two nights at Gulf Harbour Lodge and we would definitely stay there again. I asked for a quiet king size room and we were upgraded to a suite. These rooms are large, beautifully appointed and very comfortable with a lovely view of the harbour. We were lucky enough to be there when the Sunday markets were on in the courtyard (second Sunday of every month). The restaurants, coffee shops and convenience store downstairs are very handy (the Thai restaurant is good value). Our room was quiet, spotless and the bed was extremely comfortable. We spent our two days exploring the fabulous Shakespear Regional Park at the end of the peninsula and we appreciated coming home to such a lovely room to relax. We found the staff to be very pleasant, helpful and accommodating (including the delightful, friendly cleaning ladies). We were sorry when it was time to leave but we would certainly choose to stay there again.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a suite if possible.

We booked in to relax after a week sailing the Bay of Islands and catch up with friends in the area. Gulf Harbour Lodge was the perfect choice! The room was roomy & comfortable. The staff were incredibly helpful and obliging. I would recommend you consider paying the extra $20 for the room with King bed if you are a couple. The best price they offer is for the 2 x double bed option. But if you pay the extra you get one bigger bed for a great nights sleep plus a water view! The surroundings and décor are a bit "Sylvania Waters". But even I (who is known to be fussy) could handle that because everything else lived up to our expectations!

Room Tip: I recommend King bed with water view.
