“Amazing experience”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

Visited here with my Father (always something he has wanted to do) and so glad that I did. Staff we're very friendly and knowledgeable, and as there were only two other people in at the same time it was like a private tour. The planes were amazing along with the history of them. Would highly recommend to anyone

“A wonderful collection of World War 1 aeroplanes.”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

The museum is open at weekends from 1000 to 1600, with hanger tours at 1100 and 1400. Often one of their stable will be flying. Twice a year there is a full scale flying display.
We took advantage of the hanger tour, led by Sarah, and we thoroughly recommend it. We were the only people on the tour, a fascinating insight into the manufacture and operations of these rare aircraft in The First World War. Some of the aircraft are original, others are exact replicas, engines and craft made from the original plans, using the original materials and techniques.
Whether you are aircraft enthusiasts, interested in the heritage of the period or just looking for something to do, this could be the best value NZ$ 15 in the country.
Probably not perfect for toddlers. You get very close to some very expensive kit, but it's more hands off than hands on.
