We were in Masterton this past weekend for business and had not booked our accommodation in advance. Most hotels had a room for the first of our two-night stay, but alas there were no hotels with a room for two nights. Even the Duty Motel told us we would be out of luck unless we checked into one of the high-priced luxury suites at a chain hotel which was not appealing to us as we were working, not on holiday, and was simply out of the budget for our trip. We finally noticed a Vacancy sign and a cute hotel down a side street, and you guessed it, Jim had a room for us. It was his very last room, not one of his traditional rooms, it was actually a flat and I joked we could have ballroom danced - if we knew how - in this room! We were quite comfortable there..it was quiet, we slept well, had plenty of hot water, fluffy towels and plunger coffee in the morning. If we had had the time, would have loved a dip in the pool. We will definitely stay there next time in Masterton.

My husband & I stayed at Acorn for a night and it was very relaxing, the bed was comfortable, all well facilitated let alone the cleanliness was immaculate, as myself working in one of the best 5 stars Hotels in New Zealand found the Acorn very pleasant with high standard.

I recommended this get away motel & We will go back.
Awesome service

We have stayed in this motel on several occasions and always find it very relaxing and the hosts welcoming, helpful and friendly. There is good heating available and even though we stay in a studio unit it is quite spacious for the two of us.

Room Tip: The rooms nearer to the office are possibly a little quieter as they are further from the main road. However, we have never been troubled by traffic noise of any kind.

How nice to have some space in a motel. Yes it is dated, but we didn't care as the space made up for this 10 fold. We were to have gone to stay in a Wellington CBD hotel (where we have stayed often) the next night but my boys asked if they could stay on. Very clean and tidy. Very nice hospitality by the owners/staff.

Stayed for one night with a large family. The room itself was very spacious but overall it was very, very dated. The whole property and the rooms need some investment to bring them in to this decade, actually last 2 decades. The price was incredibly high given the standards of the room and the property. The service was also less than average.
Of all 15 places we stayed in on our NZ trip, this was the least well kept and overpriced.
