We really enjoyed our dinner here - delicious food, great local wines, and very warm and accommodating hosts. An ideal way to spend the evening on our weekend away in the lovely Wairarapa! Thank you very much!

I had been recommended this place by lots of people so was excited to eat here for my birthday. I was very disappointed... First of all is it a pub or a restaurant? The tables are both restaurant tables and some pub like high tables but everyone ate from the same menu, so this was confusing. The food was more of a restaurant quality but was very expensive for the type of meal we were served. The meal was just average, I was not impressed by it. The other confusing thing was that people were drinking in the same area as the diners were eating. It is fine to have both but it needs some kind of seperation. The other issue I had was the fact that there some terribly intoxicated kids drinking and kept being served despite being really drunk and causing some issues for those trying to enjoy dinner. I will not be returning.

Thank-you for your feedback. We appreciate the proximity of our bar and dining areas can occaisionally be a challenge for those diners looking for a quiet meal. That is why we are currently under-taking building renovations designed to increase our dining space. However many of our customers find the relaxed atmosphere and mixing with the locals is part of the charm of The Gladdy.

We are sorry that you were troubled by a noisy group of young people. However we can assure you that all our staff take their host responsibilities very seriously. Proof of age is always requested, and we will not serve alcohol ot an intoxicatewd person of any age.

We'd welcome your repeat vist to the Gladdy sometime soon.

I thoroughly recommend dining at The Glad Pub.... I had reserved a table to hold one toddler, and 8 adults.. Sunday lunch, was stunning, wonderful service, lovely staff and the meal... wonderful, hoping to return next Sunday with just one friend who could not join us on the celebration dinner. Highly recommended.. Toddler had a high chair, my little granddaughter.. friends and family dining together, some never met before but great atmosphere there.. have the lovely fish and chips! Will return...celebrating birthdays.. I give them top marks! Being a historian, I am so interested in the history of this area and the Pub.. it was originally a two storied building.. Gladstone was planned to be a bigger area, but it did not happen, there are paper roads on the plans. it has a lovely church up on the hill... a Wheel Wright.. Sports Complex.. School which is from 1876 and still going strong...

Good pub food in a great little NZ country pub. Service was good as was the atmosphere. Pub situated quite some distance from Masterton and Carterton and you will need your own transport to get you there and home again.

From the outside this looks like a regular country pub. Step inside and you'll find amazing service and outstanding gourmet food. Our favourite place to bring friends visiting from other places.
