We try to stop here on our way out to or home from the bach as the breakfast just sets up for the day and it goes perfectly with the yummy coffee. We love sitting outside with our doggy in the wonderful Wairarapa sun :o)

Good location in Carterton with an outside seating area. Great selection of cafe food in an old fashioned setting. Licensed. Is very popular both for travellers and locals.

I regularly stop by in the morning for coffee but the place has badly gone downhill. Not only do I sometimes wait about 10 minutes but for the last two visits the coffee is so bad that it tastes like warm milk, despite asking for an extra shot. I suspect the issues are staff related but management needs to ensure quality and consistency. Won't be back.

Carterton is on State Highway 2 between Featherston and Masterton which is approximately 2 hours drive from Wellington. The Wild Oats has an excellent reputation for good service and the high quality of their food. All food is baked and prepared on the premises plus has the largest variety of food in the Wairarapia with seating for 150 customers. There is a large parking area and has both indoor and outdoor seating plus very clean restrooms. The Wild Oats is fully licensed so you can purchase alcoholic drinks if you wish. Would highly recommend both the food and the service as we often stop here for a break when passing through the area.
