Very nice place - a much nicer look in life than in photos.
It has a laidback, time-stopping atmosphere where you can really admire the wines.
The restaurant has good food, reasonably priced.
The rooms are not big, but enough - if you go in the summer, anyway you will stay around the outdoor pool. And the pool has warmed-up water (not all hotels have).

Next stay- over on our North- Hungarian round- trip, and it was a good choice. New hotel, lots of amenities, sauna, outdoor- pool, nice restaurant, good rooms, all of this in the middle of the Tokaj Wine- region between the hills full of grapes.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free wi-fi. Maybe the breakfast selection could have been a bit more wider.
All- in all... I can recommend it to everyone! We enjoyed our stay here!

The good about this hotel is its location, in the Tokaj wine region, where you can take in the autumn colors, walk in the vineyards, visit some local cellars, taste the wine. Having a hotel to cater for the needs of the wine tourism is a good idea and the Magita was probably started in this note. They also have a conference center I guess good for team retreats, and the like.

And then you take that good idea and you ruin it. By (sometimes dreadfully) bad ideas, by making as little efforts for your guests, and by not thinking what else could you offer besides dull service and an "take it as it is" attitude. This is why the hotel might be worth 3 stars but for me it failed on so many levels that a "poor" rating was it - this hotel disappoints by the significant difference between what it claims to be and what it actually is.

Restaurant: limited menu, no creativity whatsoever in the preparation of the food which is just as dull as they come. One would not expect gourmet in this remote location (although is we're talking wine tourism then it should go hand in hand with good food), but as a rating - your cooking at home (or your neighbor's) is just as good. Sadly, you do not have any other choice, the village where the hotel is located does not have other restaurants - perhaps a drive a to a nearby one might be a better idea.

Staff friendliness: good, they're kind and helpful.

Rooms: plain. We had ants in the bathroom. Stayed for 3 days and the rooms was not cleaned *once*. Towels were not changed. That sums it up.

Facilities: has a swimming pool, this might be ok in summer, we visited in autumn so it was a no go. It also has indoor sauna, jacuzzi and offers massage. Sounds good but its is not - see below why.

You can rent bikes on the premises - a nice idea. But ruined by the fact that most of the bikes are in a deplorable state - rusty, squeaking, not safe altogether. No wonder, as they're placed out in the sun and rain for what seems to be most of the year.

And the piece of resistance - the bowling alley. The worst idea altogether. The alley has two lanes and guests can use it for a certain fee. It is however placed in a common space with the sauna, jacuzzi, massage room and several rooms also share a common wall with it. You cannot relax in the sauna as you are basically sweating several meters from all the racket of the bowling balls and pins. Same for the jacuzzi, same for the massage room. Good luck enjoying all these facilities among the sounds of pins being smashed around. Our room also shared a wall with the bowling alley - truly a bad idea, luckily the noise did not go past 10:00 p.m. on this occasion.

So the region is very nice - the hotel is bearable - but full of poor, poor ideas. Would not recommend it for a couples getaway, perhaps for a business retreat at most. Value for money - nope.

Room Tip: Do ask for a room far far far away from the bowling alley, preferably not at the ground floor altog...

I can really recommend this new hotel in the Zemplén hills in the Tokaj wine region. I was lucky to have been in mainy spots in Hungary but this is definitely one I will go back to. Hotel is new, staff very friendly and helpful. Swimming pool was very cold though, but very nice to jump in after the sauna, which you can reserve for free. It has been quite cold this summer so far, so the pool might warm up.
