If you are seeking contemplative space, tranquil translated from English to Spanish means, " tranquilo, quieto, pacífico, or simply the Hotel Palmeras.

The owners and staff have created a space that facilitates thoughtfulness, consideration, and quiet conversation. Wrought iron gates lead you to a lush landscaped courtyard, with comfortable seating around the pool. There is a shared grill in this space, and guests congregate there to share tips about where to explore in Bucerias and the surrounding areas.

That is not to say that families are not welcome. During our stay, a family from Portugal was an endless source of poolside entertainment. How can children chortling and screaming with delight not put a smile on your face?

There are many spaces within the hotel if one is not to your liking. Rooftop patio, lounge off the reception area, your private patio or balcony, etc. The lounge is walled by books donated by staff and guests, and it's not the usual assortment of beach-bound brain candy.

On the second level is a covered patio, staffed by Linda, the resident massage therapist. My companion reports that it was a mistake to wait until the end of the vacation to get a massage; next year they'll be booked in advance, as Linda is not only professionally trained, but a highly-skilled practitioner.

No rowdy parties here; it is rumored that you will be asked to leave. Thanks to the staff and owner for cultivating this amazing respite.

We rented one of the rooms facing the front entrance, that is in the old section of the hotel. The room was as pictured, with a comfortable king size bed, a kitchenette, TV. The Internet worked very well, the pool area was nice, and the front desk personnel very helpful.
BUT...the bathroom was terrible and so small. It had bad odors coming from the drain, the shower was a horrible mix of repairs, as was the toilet chalking around the base. The sink faucet hot water knob did not work. There was hot water and the linens were clean.
We were here for two nights, so did not make an issue, but would not choose this hotel again, if all they had were rooms in this older section. We did not see any of the other rooms, but they do show pictures on their web site, that look much better than this. I would definitely check it out, before making a reservation.

Whether I am travelling alone or with a friend, the Hotel Palmeras is always my first and only choice. From the moment I check-in, Juan and his staff make sure that my stay is relaxing and safe. The luscious garden and sparkling pool create a tantalizing ambiance that embraces me as soon as I arrive. Close to everything--the beach, restaurants, shopping, public transportation stops--I am just as content spending a day relaxing by the pool as I am checking out the town. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Linda, the brilliant massage therapist, has a lovely outdoor oasis overlooking the pool--a wonderful treat. This quaint hotel is a peaceful retreat that keeps me coming back as often as possible. I could not ask for more!

Just a block from the Bay of Banderas and miles of white sand beach. The hotel is tidy, well-maintained and comfortable. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and responsive. A great value. We've been to Bucerias nearly a dozen times, and stayed in a variety of venues: Hotel Palmeras is simply the best for the money. Kudos to Juan, Sylvia, Consuela, and Jesús for their exceptional service and many kindnesses.

Stayed for 14 days at this hotel. It is a quite hotel in a small fishing village. The rooms are clean and have a small kitchen. The balcony is over looking the pool and great to relax with a Mexican beer or a local Tequila. The owners and stuff are very helpful and speak English.
The location is great. On the main street with a short walk to Bucerias town center and to the beach. Many good restaurants near the hotel and tourist services next door.
Its a great place to get away from the city, but stay close to everything.

Hotel Palmeras is a clean and pretty hotel. The staff is friendly and helpful. The hotel is quite expensive at Christmas time for what you get. It is dated and lacks quality amenities. Our room was dark and did not have a deck or private outdoor sitting area. The location is good, we walked or took the bus everywhere. I would have rated it higher if it was cheaper and updated.

We took the bus here from the airport. The station is right across the street. We had planned to rent a car, but cancelled when they that it was going told us a rental agency that it was going to be considerably more expensive that originally quoted. Turns out the buses were great, so a car was superfluous!
The hotel is great. Really affordable and has a beautiful, clean pool. Fridge didn't work, but not a biggie for us. For the price it is a banging deal. I would return in a heartbeat. The beach is accessible adjacent to the hotel. We were unable to see the ocean from our room, but there is a deck above the newer rooms that is accessible to all guests, and those rooms also have their own verandas to see the ocean. Not sure if you can see the ocean from those rooms.
Bucerias is a cute, low-keyed cobblestoned seaside town. There is a crafts market a few days a week. Hubby bought me a beautiful, hand made wool rug for the wall. There are good restaurants all over town, and many places to hear live music in the evening.
One of our favorite restaurants was an open air seafood restaurant across town. They had a singer there nightly who sang 70's pop tunes through his thick accent. The Turtles "Happy Together" will forever make me think of this place-kitschy fun! The food was decent too. The name escapes me, but it is such a small town it wouldn't be hard to stumble upon.
