third time here! 2007, 2009 & feb 1st to 8th 2014. We've been to many places Dom. Rep, Cuba, Caribbean Mexico, Honduras... Royal DeCameron Puerto Vallarta might not have the crystal bleu waters of the Caribbean but other than that... the place is always well kept the staff is always scubbing and cleaning around the complex, site bathrooms are top notch. food is real good with plenty to go around and no way not to find something you like. the A la carte are very good as well but our choices go with the Italian and Brasilian. safe area local bus is app. 5 minutes up the road 140 pesos will bring you to the Port (Walmart) take another bus 70 pesos will take you straight into old downtown Puerto Vallarta where you can walk on the Malecon and watch the sunset on the bay, enjoy a beer and nachos on a terrace and shop around for gifts. for those of you looking for Local experiences out of typical tourist areas message me and I'll gladly give you spots to go to. have a nice trip! we sure did.

spent two weeks in Jan 2014. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The staff are always smiling, friendly and helpful. The grounds and pool areas are clean and well maintained. The activities staff are allot of fun and keep things interesting. The entertainment staff are unbelievable and their shows are super and a must to see. Many bars and eating places and you can always find lots of food even if your fussy. You can go into the town of Bucerias and find excellent restaurants, bars and Mexican vendors with no fear for your safety. Over all it's one of the best places for a sunny rain free vacation. We'll be back again next year.

We spent Xmas in the resort and we had a great time.
The rooms were clean but don't have minibar and coffee machine and they give you only soap, so you need to bring other things like shampoo, klenex, etc.
We were very lucky because we got great rooms in Building 4 top floor - second and third from the ocean - so we had an ocean-view without paying anything extra.
The food was really good at the buffett but we love to see more fish.
A-la-carte restaurants: Piccolo (Italian) was the best, then Mexican then Rozzio and Wok (same) , we didn't try the Japanese. The reservation system is not well organized, so prepare yourself to line up 6:30 - 7:00 am to get a reservation, you can make reservation for two nights only. I was lucky with my first two reservations - be nice to everybody ;) - but I had to line up for the other two, but at the end it was worth it.
The hotel has WiFi and it's working well near Pool 1 or at the Building 4 reception. We were at Building 4 but I had a very poor connection on the balcony, none in the room.
The beach is beautiful and cleaned every morning, you need to reserve early if you want to go there. There are lots of pools so chairs are not a problem there. If you want to be part of the daily entertainment then go to pool 1. Entertainers are really good like Danny Boy and Jimmy!!
If you have teens be aware that some guest will be lying about their kids age to get their teens an adult bracelet. We didn't so my kids were sent out of the disco which was crazy as nobody was there only teens.... I know the rule says over 19 can go in, but this is in the resort and they won't get served drink anyway...
You should plan a trip to Puerto Vallarta - about 20 min with taxi - it's a beautiful city, we really liked it!
Overall a really nice resort with very hard working and nice people; good food and great beach!!!

We loved our stay at this resort. The room was clean and the food was tasty with lots of varieties. There were five great a la carte restaurants. Although the resort is big, it looks nice, because it consists of 6 smaller blocks, painted in bright Mexican colours. The grounds are beautiful, everything is lush adn green, well maintained. We liked an adult only swimming pool as much as the beach. The entertainment was excellent and the staff was friendly. There was one thing that we didn't like much: alcoholic drinks. Tequila and red wine were not good, white wine so-so, and for Margaritas, it depends on who made it. Also, the booking system for the a la carte restaurants could be better. But, all in all, it was a good stay. I hope that we will be back one day.

My husband and I chose to stay here because a friend recommended it. We were pleasantly surprised of the value of this resort! The service was amazing all staff were cheerful friendly and looked like they truly enjoyed their jobs. The rooms were okay we didn't have high expectations of the rooms being Mexico, but the rooms were bright clean and the bed was very comfortable. Every night was a great nights sleep. The housekeeper(s) did a great job cleaning and went the extra mile with our requests for extra towels. The food was amazing. Gained lots of weight here because the buffets are to die for! This is what vacationing at an all inclusive is all about! All staff were great especially bar and restaurant staff. Very friendly. We spent most of our time relaxing on the beach which is a nice sized beach but it could use some more beach chairs as you have to get out there early to claim your spot. The entertainment was always hilarious throughout the day and the night time shows as well. I would recommend this place for anyone, family's couples and even that young party crowd.

Room Tip: Stay at the back end of the property if your looking for a quieter room. First floor rooms are nice...

It had been five years since my last stay at the Decameron. I'm happy to report the resort has got better with age.

The resort has kept it's 3.5 star modest appeal. The Decameron continues to be a resort not motivated by room upgrades, VIP packages, and decadent decor. It's a family friendly resort, yet comfortable for couples. There's lots of room at the resort to find a quiet place by a pool, or on the beach.

Friendly staff work hard to keep grounds, rooms, and common areas clean. Food in the buffet restaurants is great, with lots of choices and variations over a week.

Special thanks to the front desk for quickly resolving the one problem we had upon check-in. We initially had reserved a room with a King size bed (via Expedia) and were given a room with two beds. This problem was addressed right away, and resolved the next day. The rest of the week was problem free.

It's nice to see that the Decameron has found it's niche, and continues to do it's job meeting the modest needs of vacationers.

Room Tip: 5 & 6 are most likely the quietest.

Royal Decameron Complex

Recently we spent two weeks at the Royal Decameron Complex and found it to be an enjoyable experience. Here is my opinion of the resort. RDC is a large complex quite spread out over a large area. It has six apartment blocks with Blocks 1 and 2 closer to the water and Blocks 5 and 6 the furthest away from everything. The positive features we discovered include the well manicured grounds, the variety and quality of the food. There are two buffet restaurants, five a la carte restaurants and five bars to choose from. The food was very good.. The service provided by all the staff through out the resort was friendly and courteous. We stayed in Block 2 which was quite noisy . The rooms were clean but Spartan in nature lacking furniture, upgraded television sets, and personal items like shampoo, kleenex, body lotion, etc. I don’t know why face cloths are such a rare commodity in this resort as well as others. The beach is excellent and goes on for miles. There are plenty of palapas and lounges available. The lounge chairs do not have cushions and can be uncomfortably hard.
The resort had many return guests as many people we talked to have been coming back five to eight times. They make it a yearly event. Also the resort does accommodate their guests with quick check in, efficient luggage handling, booking for a la carte restaurants, and money exchange.
Any irritants???? Noisy around Block 2 . The animation team during the day with the disco music pounding at you, the drinkers at night at the nearby bar and restaurant, face cloth scarcity, housekeeping done either first thing in the morning or late afternoon.
Any positives???? Hot sunny days, great food and drink, beautiful surroundings, excellent service, as much activity or relaxation as you wish.
It sure beats winter!

This was a Nolitour excursion with Air Transat as the carrier. They provided excellent service getting us there and back on schedule. Good service on the plane, travel to and from the resort was well organized and excellent service by Josica, the Air Transat representative at the resort who was there almost everyday.

Room Tip: Blocks 1 and 2 are noisy. Block 5 has the disco that goes on blaring into the night. But if you don...
