“Great place”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Great place, food and service excellent stayed on business and cannot fault the Hotel or staff.
The menu is varied and always we'll presented and the food is delicious.
Hotel and grounds are well kept and location is very peacefully and scenic.
Nice to retreat to when away from home on business.

Room Tip: Stayed in room 18 excellent, hope for the same next week.

Ideal hotel for a short break. We were in a superior room so had great views of Rutland Water. The staff were very helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. The room looked a little tired but had many nice touches with the tea/coffee tray and biscuits, nice toiletries and an iron and ironing board. Wonderful power shower with masses of hot water. Dinner was delicious with plenty of choice. Breakfast too was very good with food to suit all tastes. Would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Room Tip: The superior rooms have great views of Rutland Water. The Dinner, Bed and Breakfast option is great...

This was our third visit to the hotel for our family weekend, everything from the location to the staff cannot be faulted.

We have one of the private dining rooms for saturday evening and sunday breakfast - ideal as the youngest of our party is 3 so no fear of disturbing guests.

Highly recommended

Room Tip: We have a selection of rooms and all are good

We had our wedding at Barnsdale Lodge in late March and it was amazing. From the moment we booked it we knew we had made the right choice. Friendly, efficient staff; spectacular views; good food; and comfortable rooms. What more can you ask for? A massive thank you to everyone for making our big day so special.

From the moment we set foot into the place we could tell this was definitely dog friendly! The receptionist mad such a fuss of him and felt like it was no trouble to bring him along! We had arrived early and as our room was ready we were allowed to check in! Charlie "our dog" had his own bed, bowl, mat and treats with poo bags!! The courtyard is beautiful and behind the hotel there is a large grass area for your dog to be let off and do his business, and fields adjoining have hairy cows and a chicken shack! The bar is dog friendly, but we decided to eat in the restaurant so we left the dog in the room and we had a magnificent meal with a wide range of wines to choose from! I had one of the best desserts I have ever tasted "banana tart tatin"
We had breakfast is the "country felt"conservatory and even the breakfast was excellent I had the homemade granola which was to die for!! Overall a fantastic 1 night stay and we will definitely be back again with the dog! He enjoyed his stay as much as we did!!
Rutland water is a short walk from the hotel so it is ideal for those who want to explore.

Room Tip: All rooms for dogs are on the ground floor so ideal when they need to go and do there business
