We had the most amazing stay at this hotel, it had a beautiful garden and furnishings.
The meal we had was the best we had in Italy and was so reasonably priced

I have not been there since 1995, but remember it to the most inexpensive hotel in the area.
The food is fantastic and the hosts are wonderful. They will even do your laundry.
I strongly recommend it

This Locanda was everything I imagined about a "home" in Tuscany. Our room was in a quite corner of the second floor overlooking the Tuscan countryside on three sides. The room contained a king bed with an exposed beam ceiling. There was a small sitting area with a table and chairs and a rough brick tile floor. The manager/owner was very welcoming and helpful in assisting us with directions. The little town of Betolle is not a tourist center but as we stopped to pick up picnic items, the store owners were very friendly and accomodating since we do not speak Italian. Breakfast is served in the beautiful restaurant and although the restaurant has a great reputation, the breakfast was just average. The location of the Locanda makes it very handy for day-tripping to Cortona, Montepulciano, and Arrezzo.

We found this hotel/B&B by accident while driving from Rome to Venice in the beginning of June, 2005. It is actually located just minutes off the main highway thru the Tuscan countryside in a small town called Bettolle (a bit north of Orvieto). Beautiful, modern, and very clean B&B style rooms that were large but cozy - with old world construction/decor/charm -with their own very clean and modern bathrooms. There is a common sitting area with TV and games and books and there is also a swimming pool. However, there is no air conditioning which was not a problem for us but it might be later in June or other summer months. It was moderately priced and included a reasonable breakfast of breads, cereals, fruits, juices, tea/coffee. There were not many restaurants around but we had decided to eat at the on-site restaurant, Ristorante Walter Redaelli, and it was the best meal of our entire 3 week trip. Excellent food - maybe a bit pricey - but well worth it. The overall experience was excellent - charm and atmosphere - exactly what you would want from a stay in the Tuscan countryside. If it had air conditioning we would have given it 5 stars!
