“Excellent!”
Reviewed 19 July 2017 for a stay in July 2017

We had a great vacation! The house is wonderful, with everything you need and more. It is a charming old house perfectly situated with Chenonceau only a few minutes away. The owner sent us all the necessary information about the house and the surroundings and answered gently to every question. We would love to come back again! I will happily recommend it to everyone who wants to visit the Loire Valley.

“Thoroughly enjoyed our stay”
Reviewed 4 August 2016 for a stay in July 2016

This cottage is situated very nicely in a very quiet neighborhood, but close to small towns and within easy distance of a number of the chateaux. It has a shared garden with two other houses, which is nice. There are many flowers, and it is extremely well maintained and clean. Biking was great.

“Charming Accommodation in a Central Location”
Reviewed 8 June 2015 for a stay in May 2015

My wife and I plus another couple spent six nights at Maison de la Grandmere.

We chose the cottage due to its quaint rustic country look, as well as its central location within the Loire Valley region and were not disappointed on either point.

Firstly, the cottage has been beautifully restored throughout, with the furnishings complementing the restorations to provide a lovely “feel”. The cottage is further enhanced by the supporting garden and creepers that adorn and surround the building.

Basically, the accommodation provides everything one requires, with spacious living areas downstairs (which includes a laundry, toilet and shower), as well as a pleasant outdoor garden area for casual dining during the warmer months. The bedrooms (3) are all upstairs with two ensuites, in a loft like environment which ties in with the character of the property. The beds whilst only a standard double size, were comfortable. Wi-Fi also worked satisfactorily.

The real bonus we found was that the cottage could basically be segregated into two sections by simply closing one of the hallway doors, thereby, granting complete privacy and quietness if that was what one desired.

The cottage is located in a small village with a quiet country like environment with the village offering basic facilities (small supermarket, bakery / cake shop, restaurant), whilst all amenities are available in several larger towns some 5 – 10 minutes away.

From the point of view of visiting the main attractions within the Loire Valley, the location could not better, as it is so central, hence, the ideal base to virtually everything.

All dealings with the owner from the time of booking to our departure were handled both efficiently and promptly. In addition, the owner provided a wealth of information in advance of our visit about our accommodation, things to see / do, places to eat, shop etc. within the Loire Valley which was extremely beneficial.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Maison de la Grandmere and for anyone looking for a comfortable typical French country style stay in a central location, then this accommodation would more than likely be ideal.

We are located only a 4 minutes drive from Chenonceau and central for most of the Loire Valley attractions, the autoroute access is nearby so even if you want to see Villandry, Azay and Chinon its only half an hour drive. “Exceded expectations for a great time in Loire Valley”
Reviewed 28 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The GrandMere met our expectations perfectly. We were traveling with one other couple and wanted a space where we could all stay together, eat breakfast in and relax before heading ourt in our rental car to explore the area. We had one small problem with a coffee pot that was addressed immediately. The weather complied and we enjoyed the table outside on many evenings. You really feel like you are in France when you stay here as it is located in a small village, very quiet at night and away from the big town traffic. All of the famous castles were minutes away by rental car. We would stay here again and recommend to friends.

Dear Barbara
Thank you for your comments; as you say the bathroom is really en suite with the double bedroom and the people using the twin room would nornally use the downstairs bathroom; we do have two toilets downstairs so in all there are four. The house is ideal for a family with children using the twin room.
The house is very old and quaint and in our part of France it is common for the bedrooms to be in the loft, we did this to enable us to have as much accommodation as possible and this cottage is our only three bedroom one.
On the plus side we are in a wonderful location with vineyard and river walks and a short drive to the most visited chateau in the Loire Valley.

We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay in our lovely cottage. It is a great place for a family as well as two couples, the third bedroom is really intended for children. We are child friendly, the garden is secure and safe for youngsters. The cottage is well equipped including dish washer and washing machine, tumble drier and a new fridge freezer. We hope you will let your friends know about us and to see you again soon.
