“Wonderful Italian cuisine and views of the lake”
Reviewed 4 October 2012

We were told to visit one of the resturants opposite the Ferry terminal. So we chose Lucianos, the Seafood menu was excellent, the staff very friendly and helpful, the views of sunset over the lake were stunning, making our last night near Cortona magical.

“Rip off with a smile”
Reviewed 1 September 2012

Two provisos: we went on a Monday (it's a fish restaurant) and I am Italian (helps to avoid rip-offs ...usually). So, very hot small room (not their fault admittedly but why not at least a fan)...no real menu but operates along the 'trust me' basis. Now this is certainly not gourmet..it's very average fish dishes presented in an arty farty way.The owner was there but is clearly not well (I am told this used to be a great restaurant when he was actually in charge) and lives on its past glory.
Passignano is a cute town on the lake but there are many more restaurants and they are unlikely to cost €70 a head with a totally incomprehensible bill (a table next to us queried their bill in a very vocal manner). Maybe it was an off night but if so...it was very very off.
If you want a proper gastronomic experience try Trippini further south...this place is to avoid.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed 9 July 2012

We were staying in Passignano for a few days to go to a wedding in Cortona. It was quite late in the afternoon and we were starving for a late lunch. Just about every restaurant was closed until dinner we walked into Lucianos expecting to be told sorry closed like so many others but we were welcomed in. Unfortunately i didnt get the owner/maitre ds name but there were two older Italian gentleman running the show. Our 13 year old daughter takes ages to decide on what she is going to eat, we were asked what we felt like and we said steak or meat he said leave it to me so we did. We asked for some bruschetta and a salad with lunch and then sat back. In just a few minutes a plate of bruschetta with thin sliced tomatoes and bocconcini was delivered to the table and a basket of the freshest bread. I could have eaten plate after plate of the bruschetta it was so good. Then out came our main meal perfectly cooked porterhouse steak not to big perfect thickness and cooked to absolute perfection with hand cut fries. (strange thing to have at an italian restaurant we know) Then for dessert my husband and daughter had Creme Brulee which they both said was absolutely amazing. We had a wonderful view of Lake Garda and were made to feel like part of the family. Our drinks and wine were topped up without a glance. We loved the beautiful glass plates sunny coloured tablecloths but mostly the service. At no time were we made to feel like we were a nuisance coming in so late nor made to feel like we should get going as it was getting close to dinner service. Out of all the restuarants we went too in Italy and France over three weeks we were there this was is definitely in our hearts.
