“Hidden little treasure-grill.”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We have been there several times, and we think this little grill restaurant is amazing. We like the concept of the meat done on the grill and what comes with it like jacked potato and salad. It's a wonderfullittle place that attracts a lot of local people which is a good sign. For the nicer evenings there is a lovely terrace.

“This place is so unique”
Reviewed 30 July 2013

When you enter the Gron it is akin to entering an indoor barbecue where the owner spends his evenings hosting his guests perfectly whilst cooking on an open fire. the place is very small so it is very unusual to bag a table without a prior reservation. The menu is not huge but then you wouldn't expect it to be when everything is cooked on the fire in front of your eyes. Two tips:# 1 wear layers as it gets so hot as the evening progresses. #2 choose the duck breast cooked rose - it's to die for!!

“Fantastic ambiance!”
Reviewed 10 April 2013

We visited this restaurant last week after a recommendation from friends. The menu is mainly steaks with a couple of fish options. The food is cooked on an open grill within full view of the customer which adds to the atmosphere. Everything we ordered tasted excellent and the couple who run the restaurant were both friendly and hospitable. We had children with us but I felt the menu did not really cater for them. A steak meal to share wasn't quite enough and would've been too much on their own. It was slightly on the pricey side but I would happily visit again.

“Shocking Service”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

We made a reservation at this restaurent, after walking by the previous evening and seeing how busy it was inside.
On arrival, we stood for around 5 minutes waiting to be seated. Finally, we were greeted by a flustered waitress who chomped vigorously on chewing gum. After being directed to our table, which was situated between the door and a burning hot grill. The waitress slammed the french menu's on our table, making no attempt to help us understand the selection of food available. Having spent some considerable time attempting to make sense of the menu, we watched while others who had arrived after us, indulged in wine, starters and who were now in fact ordering their main course. Thirty minutes had passed, the stroppy unapproachable and quite frankly miserable waitress continued to ignore us and busy herself with the other guests. We picked our coats up from the floor (as no attempt was made to store them anywhere else) and made our way out the door. On doing so, the agressive, clueless chef bellowed "what is the problem", to which we replied we have been sat in your restaurant for over half an hour, with no offer of a drink or attempt to acknowledge us. The chef dismissed our complaint and raised his voice to explain that he was "catering for 20 guests" and we should "do as we please". Personally, I have never experienced such distasteful service. We left feeling outraged and bitterly disappointed. This restaurant needs to review its attitude towards customer service if it wishes to satisfy any future customers.

“Superb - a real treat”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

This is the sort of restaurant Rick Stein dreams of, local, small, specialising in local food. Its an in-house barbeque on a roaring fire. Only about 20 covers so YOU MUST BOOK in advance. Its good value - but equally you can really spoil yourself with Cote de Boeuf and Chateauneuf du Pape. Husband and Wife team do all the cooking/hosting. Fantastic stuff
