I stayed last week at Les Fermes du Soliel and would recommend it both for facilities and its location. The ski bus stops just outside the door and runs from 8.15am, there is a supermarket very close and it is just a short walk from the main square.

However I am moved to post review because the maintenance man at the property spent two hours working hard and intelligently to get my car moving again after being stuck in the snow. There was no charge and his efforts were very much appreciated.

We were placed here by Crystal ski as they had messed up our booking, we were very happy with the upgrade.

On arriving at 14.00 we were told that the room would not be ready until 17.00 no big deal normally but there was a higher level of expectance due to it being a finest accommodation.

We got into the room, wow it is small, there are 6 men staying in the E type room, this is not big enough for 6 children let alone blokes on a ski trip. The room would be perfect for 4.

It then turned out, that because it is a room for 4 with a sofa bed for extras, there was not enough towels or bedding for the extra 2 men, also not a massive problem apart from the fact that our block is a 3 - 4 min walk from reception and there is a blizzard going on outside.

We then asked for bin bags and loo rolls to be told they supply 1 if you want more then the spar is round the corner.

The hotel is really nice and 9/10 times the staff were great, the bakery service was truly fantastic.

The location was great also with ice rink and spa on site, a 2 min walk gets you on the free ski bus up to the gondola's which is a massive plus.

Overall I will be bringing my family back to this hotel, but wouldn't return with a group of friends.

Room Tip: E type for 2 - 4 or E1 for 4 - 6

Stayed at Les Fermes du Soleil in mid January for a week's skiing holiday. Myself and a skiing buddy took a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment so that we could have separate facilities. With the sofa bed in the lounge area the apartment claims to be for 6 people; personally I would not recommend more than 4 adults in the apartment as the kitchen area gets crowded with just two!
Nice friendly welcome on arrival and our bags were stowed until we could check in (2pm). The ground floor allocated apartment (No 3 in Chalet A) was nice and clean. I chose the double bedded room and the bed was very comfortable. My ensuite comprised a fantastic shower with plenty of hot water and a mirrored wash basin area; I had to trek through the kitchen for my WC, a minor inconvenience.
There is a good Spar store in the complex and we ordered baked products some evenings at Reception for delivery after 8am the following morning. Pool, jacuzzis, steam room, sauna all very good and, because we were in Chalet A next to Reception, we didn't have too far to travel to access them.
All in all an excellent stay in a great apartment with great facilities. My buddy checked us out and says that the receptionist on check out duty wasn't as friendly as the rest of her colleagues were during the week. Personalities I suppose or the stress of changeover Saturday in the French Alps.

Room Tip: Choose Chalet A or B if you don't want to walk too far outside in your bathrobe after your swim.

This is the perfect place to enjoy mountains & spa : indoor swimming-pool, hammam and sauna. The flat was beautiful, clean and functional. You're welcomed by friendly receptionnists. They lend appliances for typical meals, you can also ask for a caterer service.
The village is also beautiful, you can go everywhere by walk, you have many restaurants and bars. We really enjoyed the time spent there.

We stayed for half-term ski week with two kids (7 & 5) in the "3 piece 5/6 person appt". The apartment was small, but neat, clean and comfortable - although there was a sleeper couch, I would suggest not using it - another 2 people in this size appt would be difficult.

Location was excellent, with a 2 minute walk to the village central square and grocery store attached to the complex. Kids enjoyed the ice rink and I could sit on the balcony and watch them skate. Ski bus (running every 20 minutes) stopped right outside the front door. I would suggest to budget in an extra €60 and reserve an underground parking space for the week - there was not a lot of on-street parking available.

Pool and hot tubs were an excellent facility and we used them every day....kids (not just ours) generally bombing and splashing about, so if you're hoping for a nice relaxing dip, probably not the place to go. I'm informed the spa treatments were excellent too.

Free wi-fi was offered in the reception and rooms, although connection was extremely unreliable. It was certainly good enough to keep email updated, but I would not have been pleased if I had paid for the service.

We found the staff to all be courteous and helpful.

We were due to go to Montsoleil in Flaine but our reservation was cancelled by pierre vacances with 4 weeks to go. Needless to say we were very angry with PV and have never had an explanation. That said they offered us Les Carroz and with some reservation we accepted their solution. When we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. les Carroz is full of character and with an abundance of snow. The skiing through the trees was a real pleasure and a change from some of the snow bowls in higher resorts. The lift system was efficient although the pistes were extremely busy as it was half term. I would recomend you have a car, we drove from Birmingham, and it made a real difference as most accommodation is some distance from the lifts and there is a good car park system. There are buses but it looked really hectic given the holiday period. ESI for ski school was excellent - good mix of french and english kids and our 9 year old got on really well with his teacher.

The accommodation was ok - not as luxurious as we had been anticipating in Flaine but the beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage space. 2 English channels on the TV but we took our own portable DVD and that made a difference. The set up around an ice skating ring was good and the proximity of a local well stocked supermarket was a bonus.

All in all given we had pretty low exectations given it was not the holiday we booked, we would certainly recommend the Grand Massif area, we may go back to Les Carroz and the MGM would be a reasonable choice.

Really pleased with our stay at Les Fermes du Soleil. The "5/6 bed" apartments were perfect for our groups, albeit with 2 students on the sofa beds. Nice kitchen, good seating and nice pool / jacuzzi / sauna - great for relaxing after the slopes.

Staff not terribly friendly - don't expect to check-in early - but a good 4 days in all.
