Excellent place to stay for exploring the area. The hosts are very friendly and knowledgeable about the best places to eat. Comfortable beds ensure a good nights sleep. Hope to visit again next year (2015)

Room Tip: One room is over the kitchen so can be quite warm.

This is a 19th century house in a fairly isolated position with sea views over farmland. The accommodation is clean and comfortable. Our room was recently refurbished and attractive with a
nice new shower room. Breakfast was delicious and the owner, Sharon, friendly and helpful.
Each morning we walked down to Ravenscar, about half a mile, for a lovely view over Robin Hood's Bay. There is a good walk along an old railway line to Robin Hood's Bay as well as along the very scenic coast path.

Room Tip: room 2 has particularly good views

There is an ocean view but it's far..the rooms are small and a little stuffy, the staff is super nice. Breakfast is great, fresh and big. There is a flat screen tv in the room, the size of an iPad...
There are plenty of beautiful walks in nature around the place, so if you are not planning on spoiling yourself the place is good. Would not get out of the way to come here, though.

Thank you for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your big breakfast and found the staff ”super nice”.
Just in case potential guests are concerned, room 6 is a lovely room at the front of the house - we certainly would not describe it as small. It has a large airy bathroom and in the bedroom there are two comfy chairs for admiring the beautiful views over the sea and countryside of the National Park with distant views all down the coast. We have many guests say they can’t believe how beautiful the views are from the house. As for the ipad size TV, an ipad is 9.5inch and our TV’s are 19 inch, however when finance allows we do plan to upgrade them.

Spent two lovely nights at this brilliant B&B in Ravenscar, near Whitby.
Always parking on site and given key to come and go to own time scale.
Rooms very well equipped with dressing gowns and tea and coffee, bisuits etc. Also free wifi in all rooms.
If you want to go on walks they are just down the road and you can take your pick from relatively short ones to a lovely coastal walk to Robin Hoods Bay if you are feeling energetic.
Breakfasts as much as you want from fresh fruit, cereals, full English, salmon and toast. Lovely.
We would highly recommend here to stay and if the weather is good what a bonus.
Will definitely return

We had a lovely few days at Smugglers Rock (very interesting history) in a very comfortable room with the most magnificent view out our window - ducks in the pond, sheep and ponies in the fields and distant ocean! Very peaceful with beautiful walks and drives. Sunny breakfast room with lovely cooked breakfast. All as described on website. Thanks Sharon!

Would definitely recommend Smugglers View Cottage. This cottage is well situated between Scarborough and Whitby and half a mile from Ravenscar with its Station Tearooms - well worth a visit. For walkers Stoupe Bay is nearby and an easy way of accessing the beach where you can hunt for jet! Robin Hoods Bay, Staithes, Goathland, Whitby all worth a visit.Immaculate 'upside down' cottage with views towards Scarborough and the sea. It even had a four poster bed in the main bedroom plus all mod cons including the essential dishwasher. Large comfortable upstairs living room to make the most of the views. Made the most of the private garden and beautiful (most of the time) weather.
