Had a pleasant two nights stay at this hotel. We paid extra for a seaview room and weren't disappointed. Had a pleasant spacious room with views over Robin Hoods Bay. Bed was comfortable and the room was warm and extremely clean. My husband and I had a meal in the restaurant and couldn't fault it. Staff were friendly and efficient and we didn't see one sour face - quite the contrary - pleasant and well mannered. Would not hesitate in returning to this hotel.

Just returned from another short break at this wonderful relaxing hotel. I cannot understand these negative reviews from people with dogs.. We have a small chihuahua and never had a problem in the many times we have been staying at this hotel. (probably because we found out the rules before we booked) The staff cannot do enough for your comfort and relaxation. Of course there are restrictions on where you can sit with your dog, this is not unusual. The two rooms which we have sat in with our chi have been more than adequate for our comfort. In any event we always check before booking with a hotel as to what their restrictions are.The food and service is second to none, and always delivered with a smile.
The reception organised a taxi without any hesitation, also making sure that they would accommodate our dog. So yet again I cannot understand the earlier review.
We requested and we were duly allocated our usual room with a panoramic view of the bay which by the way is outstanding.
As regards the television reception well what can you expect if the weather is so bad. The hotel made every effort to repair it and in the morning it was back!
We have now extended our forthcoming visit next March 2014 and we just cannot wait to go back!!

Once again thank you for posting a posting such a positive review based on your experience of Raven Hall as return visitors. We do welcome dogs but of course there are some rules and restrictions to ensure the comfort of other guests as you are aware, and I do recall your little Chi was extremely well behaved!

Apologies for the loss of tv reception due to damage to our newly installed satellite dish during the extreme gales and storms suffered across the country at that time which were excessive and we were more fortunate than others. This was replaced the following morning as soon as we were able. We do hope you make a return visit, along with your dog.

We arrived at 4:00pm on an extremely windy day with our small dog, ready to enjoy a relaxing weekend. Unfortunately we ended up choosing to drive home (2 and a half hours journey!) rather than stay in what can only be described as a cold, dirty, white box that was our room. The hotel advertises that dogs are welcome so we proceeded to the bar area, got a drink and sat by the cosy fire ready to relax. We were told immediately that dogs were only allowed in the entrance lobby to the hotel and to leave the seat. After viewing that area we decided we would rather leave the dog in the room and sit in the bar alone as it was extremely cold, bright and unwelcoming in the lobby. We snuggled up with our laptop only to discover no wifi signal (we were told this was available throughout the ground floor?) no music, bright lights, and a few whispering couples. It felt more like a retirement home than a coastal retreat! The atmosphere was awkward and chilly so we decided to retire to our room at just 6pm to watch TV. After 1 hour of viewing, the TV cuts off! Apparently the ariel blew off the roof?! So no TV, no music, no wifi, no cosy area to sit with our dog? What were we to do? Get a taxi to a local pub/restaurant? Well, we tried this but were told at reception "Taxi's don't like coming here as it's too far from any of their ranks". We couldn't believe it! So with nothing to do, stressed out with the poor service, dirty room and bored with the general atmosphere, we felt trapped in this place! We decided to drive home at 10pm. Even though we arrived back after midnight, it was worth leaving Raven Hall just to get in a comfy bed with full amenities!! Unfortunately we will not be returning.

Just had a great stay in a Studio Lodge. The staff here are all very friendly and helpful. Special thanks to Amy on Reception for her prompt replies to my emails before arriving.

The Lodge was great. We especially liked the Log Burning Fire. The kitchen part is basic but much better than a normal hotel room. The view is great across the Bay.

My only suggestion for the lodge would be a bottle opener (although even though it was horrible weather a member of staff came to open it for us!! - Thanks).

The pool is also a good size for a hotel but there are no lockers in the changing room so don't take any phones, etc with you when going for a swim.

My wife and I got married here a month ago today and had the most fantastic perfect time. It is a stunning hotel with amazing views, the Great Hall where the ceremony took place is very atmospheric but its the friendly helpful staff that is the magic ingredient! Nothing was too much trouble and they gave such a personal service that they all felt like good friends. Thank you especially to Ben for overseeing our wedding so well and making sure everything ran so smoothly. (also for help with my flat battery the next day!) We cannot praise you enough and have friends who have already booked their wedding with you as they were so impressed. Many, many thanks for helping make our wedding such a stress free and brilliant day!.

After a small problem with the bathroom, mew asked to be moved, we were put in one of the lodges. Fantastic and well worth the extra we paid for the upgrade. The lodges are absolutely great. You couldn't get a better view, from a balcony no less! Wood bunting stove, fancy bathroom, two flat screen TV s it goes on and on, thanks to the manager for sorting this for us. Not our first visit, but most certainly our best in terms of accommodation.

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for a lodge! Otherwise room 116

This was my fourth visit to Raven Hall, and having read the recent reviews I was a little apprehensive, in case it had changed for the worse, but it was as wonderful as ever. We had the same room as our last visit with stunning views over the bay. Our dog was welcomed, the swimming pool was clean and relaxing, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed our after dinner coffee with the dog in the snug lounge, which we had all to ourselves. I have recommended this hotel to friends, and shall continue to do so.

Room Tip: ask for a room overlooking Robin Hoods Bay - no need to pay extra
