My partner and I stayed here with a friend whilst visiting Aberlour for a wedding. We were so delighted that we chose this place - the house itself has been lovingly refurbished and the rooms are so comfortable. We stayed in the large double room which was very spacious whilst our friend took the twin room. No TVs but digital radios so we were able to get our Radio 6 fix! The shared bathroom was spotless, with bath and shower plus handmade Claggan soaps. We also had the sole use of the sitting room where breakfast is served. This room has comfortable leather sofas, shelves full of books and is perfect for relaxing after a walk. All rooms have lovely views of the Spey and the village beyond.
What made our stay really special however, was the hospitality of Gosia and Alistair (with help from 2 yr old Harry and Shrimp the collie!) We received a warm greeting when we arrived and then Gosia lit the wood burner for us at dusk. We aren't vegetarian but we could not fault the delicious cooked breakfast (plus sweet waffles and homemade bread). I awoke (very) late after the wedding of the previous day, but Gosia still prepared a full breakfast for me - thank you!
It is about a 20 minute walk into Aberlour and taxis are around £15 should you need them. Do beware when driving down the track to the farm - take it very slowly as it is well used by tractors :-)
If you are looking a for a peaceful, mindful stay in a beautiful part of the country, Claggan Farm is perfect. It is (literally) off the beaten track but this is why we loved it.
