Stayed for a night in a 4 poster room while visiting Dover. The room was big, clean and comfortable. The hotel is perfectly located if you are visiting Dover or looking to take in the Cliffs. The staff was helpful and the hotel was about what we were looking for in an out of the way B&B. The breakfast buffet was well stocked and the cost to add a little hot food wasn't too bad. The only thing I wasn't sure about was the Tepee in the Garden with a disco ball inside. Not important for the stay, just a curiosity.

Not bad, but not as good as I suspect it thinks it is. Plusses: excellent food, big room, local real ale in bar, welcoming and attentive staff. Negatives: no net curtains in a room that overlooked the beer garden - so no wandering without clothes on (had to draw the curtains and turn the lights on); a shower that was more like one you find in a cheap London rented house than in a hotel charging £120+; the local real ale wasn't available; charged extra for a cooked breakfast - I still find that difficult to believe.

Thanks for the kind words about or excellent food, big room, local real ale and welcoming and attentive staff. It's endearing to think that our place has a 'soul' and can think that it has aspirations beyond it's station in life. We, the staff that run the place do think it's special and love working here. We try not to rest on our laurels and work hard to make everyone's stay a great one. We don't pretend to be anything other than a place to sleep in comfort, a place to enjoy food and drink sourced and prepared with care or a place in which to relax & be happy.
Now the small details which are really important - we've now replaced the net curtains in room 12 (a guest staying previously accidentally ripped them when opening the window) so guests can wander around in their birthday suits without worry. As for the local real ale - That is the fantastic Gadd's of Ramsgate, we love to keep it fresh and crack a fresh barrel almost every day in Summer. Rarely does the font run dry, but when it does we always have a great selection of bottled ales from the same source. (Eddie Gadd is the expert and I had a chat with him over a pint and it's the only way to do it - his words!).
With regard to breakfast, we've said this before and it's worth noting again.. Our room rates include a complimentary Continental breakfast, this is advertised on our website, brochures, tariffs, email confirmations, room information folders, check-in forms and menus. Many of our guests stay whilst on their way travelling to the continent or on business and many only wish to have a breakfast from our extensive 'All you can eat' Continental Breakfast Buffet which includes tea, coffee, hot chocolate, a choice of fresh fruit juices, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, croissants, toast, cold meats and cheeses. There is a choice of cooked breakfast from Eggs Benedict to Kippers and our Full English Breakfast is freshly prepared from locally sourced produce of the highest quality, a cooked breakfast is available from as little as £2.50 extra. We are a little different to 'other run of the mill' hotels that charge for a Full English regardless of whether you have it or not and we'll continue to work on improving our breakfast offering and have recently been awarded a Breakfast Award from Visit England. Our rack rates are less than those of our closest 3 star hotel competitor (their normal room rates do not include breakfast of any kind) and on a par with our Bed and Breakfast neighbours in our village. We take all feedback very seriously and love the challenge to improve our service and facilities for our many happy returning guests. We always urge our guests to inform us at the time if there is a shortfall in their expectations and then we have the opportunity to fix things there and then. Thanks for listening...

My wife and I ate and stayed here. We really liked it. I’d booked the wrong date, but they were fine about it, and upgraded us to the apartment. Since we had an apartment we asked if we could have our dinner up there- which they were happy to do, and brought it up for us. We both had fish and chips, which wasn’t bad, and you get some nice breads and olives as an appetizer. The restaurant space is really nice (we had breakfast there). The breakfast was pretty good – a decent buffet was included in the room price; cooked breakfast was extra. The apartment isn’t super posh; it’s simply but nicely decorated. It’s a little worn, but clean and comfortable (see my pics).
What impressed me most though was the service, which was excellent.

Stopped here three nights, so glad we chose this place rather than Dover which did not inspire us. Very relaxing and just the right combination of attention to detail and also informality.

Food at the restaurant was superb, fish and chips were huge and well cooked and the Pimms Jelly a nice way to finish. Also make sure you try the number 5 real ale.

Well done, a great find.

We needed a hotel for a one night stay last Thursday evening. I googled Hotels in or near Dover who welcome dogs. We have a new puppy Yorkshire Terrier. Arrived mid afternoon, to a warm welcome and fuss made of our dog Scampi. When a hotel welcomes dogs I get the feeling its going to be well run, and accommodating. The room was very nice in the annex building, and had all the comforts you would expect from this type of hotel. The menu for dinner was excellent, the food and service the perfect balance of style and informality, I love. If ever we are in need of a room again in Dover, I would look no further than here. Thank you for a great stay.

We love this hotel and have stayed a number of times. Why do we love it? The staff are great, they make you feel really welcome. The location is great too, 10 minutes to Dover Ferry Terminal but without the bustle of the port itself. The hotel is in a lovely village and its facilities include an excellent bar and restaurant which are well used by locals. On one occasion we were treated to carols by the village choir and last time there was a summer charity barbeque on the lawn. The rooms are very nice - although number 10 is rather small! The buffet breakfast is superb.

Room Tip: We found the room called "Fossil" too small for us (couple with a dog).

This hotel is situated in a very pleasant, quiet location, walking distance to the beach (but a steep walk back!). The surrounding area is ideal for walking and just a few minutes drive from Dover and the Castle. The hotel was great, clean and comfortable with excellent food - no complaints at all and we would be happy to visit again.
