We booked a 4 night stay through the Sun promotion, and ‘upgraded’to a silver accommodation. The park looked dated but clean and tidy, but we were bitterly disappointed with the ‘accommodation’ offered.
We were given the keys ( though why anyone would lock that place up is beyond me) and went to open up the ‘chalet’. We had difficulty opening it, and when we opened the sliding door/window were assailed with the stench of ‘hamster cage’. the furniture was old, mismatched and badly damaged . There were drawers missing from the cupboard in the bedroom. The mattress was filthy and had paint on it …very old paint and not the colour on the walls, so I could only hazard a guess as to how old the mattress actually was.
The net curtains ,which were white at one time in their long life, were black with dust, with spiders webs hanging on them. This was probably what held them together as they seemed to consist of tears and rips more than anything else. There was mould round the window frames, and on the wall of the ‘kitchen’.
The full length curtains were hanging from a rail which was broken.
The wall over the cooker was black with soot/grease.
All-in it was really uninhabitable, and nothing like the pictures shown on the Park web page.

I went back to reception to complain and we were given keys to a ‘silver’ caravan, though this didn’t have heating in the bedroom.

we stayed there overnight as we had a trip to France booked, and returned to stay a second night. We left then on the Wednesday, having stayed only 2 of the 4 nights booked.

The site is dilapidated, the chalet accommodation is appalling. The only saving grace is that the receptionist didn’t argue or quibble about giving us different accommodation. If this had happened, I would have marked them down for a Zero.

Park needs to get their act together ,and invest in the fabric of the site – they don’t deserve the staff they have.
We could have stayed at a Premier Inn for the same money.

I would advise anyone and everyone …avoid this place like the plague!

Room Tip: Don't be tempted by the low cost. Try the premier Inn. More convenient for the town and ferries...

There wasn't a lot to choose from by the time we arrived in Dover on a wet and chilly midweek evening so we were directed towards this place.
We stayed in the hotel section. First impressions were not good with a musty smell in the corridor. This was not evident in the room. The room itself was small but the bed was quite comfortable. The shower worked well.
Being at the end of a long day and some way out of town, we opted to eat at the restaurant. The meal was typical pub fare, tasty enough and filling. Breakfast was the same.
One of the best features of the resort is that it has a laundry, open until 9pm, which includes very affordable (and effective) drying facilities.
Don't book this place looking for little luxuries. It is cheap, it is a bit rundown, but it met our needs for the night.

I have stayed at this holiday park 4 times over the last 4 years due to its good location for the channel tunnel and local sites and have had a mixed experience.
The first time I stayed in a bungalow and the accommodation was adequate and our stay was fine. Due to this the following year we went again and had the same type of accommodation only this time it was dirty. The carpets, kitchen work tops even the beds. We complained and after a ding dong with staff got moved to another bungalow which was a bit better and we spent a good few hours cleaning before bedtime.
Now the third time we went we decided to go in a different type of accommodation and booked with hoseasons. We booked the top static van they had, Platinum I believe and it was really good. Large flat TV wall mounted ,spotless all round, en suite bedroom it even had a washer dryer in the kitchen. This time the holiday was enjoyed by all.
So you guessed it we booked again this year, and choose the same accommodation. only this year they now have two platinum vans and on arrival we go put in the new one. No large TV on wall, no en suite, damp beds and no veranda outside. So off we went to the office and after pointing out the differences and saying we do not think that this new van is really a platinum we got moved again and they explained that the van was there's (no1) and that the better van (no162) was private owned and they let it out for the owners .
Everything now seamed great until the night came! There were EARWIGS everywhere in the kitchen , bedrooms, living rooms even in the beds. Well our son freaked out and refused to go to bed.
We killed as many as we could but after the second night we gave up and left the site early cutting our stay short as it was that bad.
As we handed in the keys they asked why we were leaving so early and we told them of the earwig infestation and they responded with " yes we know about them, we have been having a massive problem all over the site for quite some time".
So that is it never again.

What do people expect for under £50 a night!!
The rooms are being refurbished and we had one of those and it was fine. The staff were friendly and the food wasn't that bad.
If you have an early ferry this place is fine and we will use it again

Just back after a truely amazing weekend at St Margrets Bay resort in dover and felt it need to be said how fantastic it was. We stayed in the hotel which was lovely, the double room was a brilliant size and was great to see a place so clean! The staff were brilliant the site was immaculate and the beach, dover castle and white cliffs... all within very close proximity. Which ment we could make the most of our short 2 night break. The evening entertainment was brilliant. Will definatly be coming again with the kids next time and would highley reccomend the place to friends and family.

The first room we stayed in had a filthy bath mat, the beds were incredably lumpy and the shower didn't work. So after asking for a room change from a helpful receptionist we were given a different room. At least the beds in this room were newer and easier to sleep on, however on at least two occasions the beds were never made, nor was the tea tray/cups washed and we stayed for six nights! On arrival the receptionist said to us "oh its nice to have people stay for more than one night!" Having stayed here, its very clear to me why that might be the case. If you do have to stay - don't stay for breakfast! Its pretty hard to provide a shoddy breakfast - but this place did - see other reviews for the details! One upside though, the staff on the main were friendly. Marjorie Hinds
