I live in Rhayader and The Triangle is my pub of choice. Rhayader has quite a few to choose from some but some have gone "gastro." The Triangle's my favourite haunt for good reason...
The Triangle is a tiny 16th century pub that offers "pub grub" of the highest standard. They're very proud of their locally sourced ingredients. It's the only place I've ever been that has prize winning lamb on the menu with a photo of the lamb & it's rosette proudly displayed.
The fact that they're NOT "gastro" and offer quality home made food at a good price is what keeps me coming back.
For the real ale drinkers out there, the Abbott Ale is a great pint.
It's a little off the beaten track but worth seeking out. Paul & Alison will do their utmost to look after you.
My only word of warning - it's SO good that it's busy even out of season. Booking is table in advance is a good idea. Even if you don't, they'll do their best to squeeze you in & failing that they now do take-away!!
