Please do not go here. We came for my friends birthday.
My chicken soup starter had an 1inch bone in it.
The scallops were so chewy you could bounce them off the floor.
The steak was watery like it had been frozen and it had absolutely no flavour.
The lamb shanks were lukewarm.
The waitress was impatient and clicked her fingers at us to pass the old plates back to her.

Overall..... the worst £150 spent in my entire life.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review, please can you indicate the date in which you ate with us at Ty Morgan's so that I can enquire which members of staff were on shift at the time.
If you were unhappy with the food and the service which you received why was nothing said at the time? We certainly would have done our best to rectify the situation. I look forward to your response.

We have stayed here s few times over the years! This time we stayed in room 1, it is awesome with no straight floors or walls exposed beams. Very cool room.

Downside is the noise coming through the windows, but not sure it can really be helped.

Breakfast was yummy, good choice and ok coffee.

We asked for late check out as we had a wedding that day, very accommodating.

I think if you remember that you are in a small town with no chain hotels and little boutique places it's perfect!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review about Ty Morgan's. We love that you like the 'quirkiness' of Room 1 with the exposed beams, it gives the room such a great character and is one of our most popular rooms. We really hope to see you again soon.

We had Very! poor service. Salad so limp it could have been yesterday's. No napkins. Steak was very overcooked. Kept waiting for everything. Half of meal was eaten before the sauces were even offered. Shame as it looked a nice place

If you are looking for somewhere to stay in Rhayader, this would be a decent choice, but does have some disadvantages as well as its plus points.

The breakfast was very filling, and the choice of evening meals was good, and very good value (especially after our previous 2 days in the Cotswolds). Service was friendly and enthusiastic and the bar/dining area was spacious and airy.

The room we had was large and well furnished, but was on the first floor at the front of the building, overlooking the street and wasn't double glazed. As the building is adjacent to the main crossroads in the town, this can be a bit of a problem, especially when large articulated lorries come through after midnight. The clocktower in the middle of the crossroads is quite an obstacle!

Also, parking is difficult, unless you have a very small car, as the attached parking requires you to make a difficult turn to get through a narrow gateway at 90 degrees to the (narrow) road. You can park on the street and hope that it's not the one day a year that the traffic wardens come, or you can park 400 yds or so away. Neither option is great .

Rhyader's a pleasant little town, though, and the red Kite feeding station (only 1/2 mile down the road) and the 2 hour drive round the dams and rivers of the Elan valley are well worth doing. There are also some nice pubs in the town, we enjoyed the Crown and the Eagles and would have liked to have got around to the Triangle, which looked interesting, but ran out of time.

We went for a weekend break to this lovely bistro/hotel. I cannot fault it, ( just tiny issues, bathroom light bulbs and a rip in the sofa in the mezzanine. We initially stayed in room 4 but the Tv signal was playing up on one of the tv's so we asked to move and moved to room 1. ) room 4 was lovely but room 1 was amazing. Old stone walls, wonky floors, beams etc, a small second twin room and a lounge with a master bedroom and ensuite. Spotlessly clean and so cosy and comfortable.

The staff were pleasant, kind and helpful, Theresa from Housekeeping a star. We had a dinner in the Bistro which was delicious, crayfish cocktail followed by a perfect steak. My husband chose scallops and lamb, also delicious. Breakfast was also a delight. Fresh local produce, plenty of what you wanted and proper butter!

Parking was limited behind the hotel but plenty of other places to park, Rhayader is a small quirky friendly town and every one smiles and says "Hello". I had forgotten how stunning Mid Wales is.

During our stay we visited Aberystwyth for a day. Nice seaside town, busy and plenty to see and do.

We are going to return in Summer with our dogs and children to experience the Carnival for a few days.

I would recommend this hotel, 100%, particularly if you like character charm and good food.

Room Tip: Room 1 and 4 were lovely though I doubt you would be disappointed with any of the rooms as they are...

We have just spent two nights on a KGB deal which included bed and full cooked breakfast plus one two course evening meal. The hotel /bistro is situated in the centre of Rhayader on a cross roads. They are two very busy roads but the traffic did not bother us at all.
We were in room 6 which was a lovely room very well appointed with on suite bathroom which had a shower and a bath. The staff were very friendly and polite and the food was out of this world.
The portions were very generous, I had the rib eye steak and my wife had the duck. These dishes were served with a salad on the plate, my steak dish had mushrooms onion rings, and peas and my wife,s duck dish had mashed potato and a salad. Then they came along with a dish full of green vegetables with broccoli, sweet snap peas, baby sweetcorn and green beans ,courgettes,in it.
The parking was no problem for us but I understand that the parking area is very small, but you can use the cattle market car park free of charge.
It is well situated for visiting the Elan Vally and other places are with in a hours drive.
Full marks from John and Andrea

Room Tip: Go for room 6 if possible less noise from traffic

We can echo preious posts. The room was modfern and well appointed as was the bathroom. The food was excellent and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. However the road noise was not good and could become very intrusive. Secondary glazing on the windows of the rooms at the front would help.

The noise from adjoining rooms was really unacceptable. Above it sounded like a herd of elephants and the noise from the adjoining bathroom was appalling. My wife woke up in the night convinced that I was on the loo in our room! You could hear everything from the pulling of the tissue upwards! Drainage by Saniflow didn't help and the cacophony when more than a couple went off was horrendous! A great shame as the attention to detail like a plastic box with brownies in (and homemade coconut biscuits the second night) was a very nice touch.

Smaller suggestions would be an ability to turn the lights off from the bed and hooks on which to hang coats.

Rhayader as a place doesn't have a great deal going for it but the countryside roundabout is stunning.

Room Tip: Get one at the back or on the side road
