Visited after a gap of 50 years - few changes in decor but small rooms mostly knocked into one apart from delightful nostalgic snug only spotted on way out. Very pleasant hostess, great draft Bass and excellent good value, very fresh cod, chips and mushy peas. Failed to eat lemon rind but all the rest was first class. Mustn't wait another 50.

We visited for the first time lunchtime on 5th Feb 2014 .As the pub was empty we were hoping for a good meal but unfortunately it was not the case.
My husband had the faggots chips and mushy peas which were only just warm. The waitress took them away and re heated in the microwave on my husbands request. I stuck with mine although it was also not hot. The sirloin steak was tender and tasty and cooked as i like it . Such a shame the rest was just warm. On leaving i asked if the chef had made any comment . The
waitress said sorry it was her fault .The meals had been left as she was busy
with other customers and she only had one pair of hands. We won't be returning

My friend and I have been regulars to The Dog Inn for about 5 years now and find it to be consistently excellent. The food is of a high standard and very reasonably priced. I often have the sirloin steak which is of excellent value and is cooked just as ordered. The menu has an extensive choice. There is always a good selection of Real Ales which are kept in very good condition. Landlord, Landlady, and all their staff, are friendly and welcoming and you'll always enjoy a relaxing night out. Would recommend to anyone thinking of calling by, whether you're dining or just fancy a drink!

We visited on rather a cold & wet lunchtime, we were met with a very warm welcome for our first visit. My husband & I both had sirloin steak and we were chuffed with our choice. Cooked just as we ordered & I agree with a previous posting the chips were excellent also very tasty mushrooms & grilled tomato. We will visiting again.
