The Sun Inn is a listed (and listing!) former coach house and the site in the very centre of town dates back to the 1600 s. The hotel is situated near all shops and amenities in this very attractive and varied market town. Hitchin was once the centre of the coaching routes between London, the Midlands and the North and still has a good train service. However it lost it;s full central hib status with the advent of the car and motorway but still retains a crossroads feel about it (good modern market, seperare market square, lots of inns and a interesting variety of cheeky by jowel modern/old properties).
The hotel is a maze with a split floors, nook, crannies and dead ends. It has been recently upgraded, with more improvements to come, but still retains a individual feel. Weekend rates very reasonable. on site pub operated by Greene King and serves decent cask ales. Parking is limited but plenty close by. No lift so may not be suitable for seniors or disabled.
Good bet for a weekend away and lots of choice of restaurants, fast food and shope near by.
