Cramped and understaffed again, wish the manager would plan better for general holiday days and weather conditions

“Lovely location, beautiful views”
Reviewed 18 May 2014

Had taken the dogs for a bike ride on another part of the canal and decided to stop for breakfast on the way home so diverted in here.

Car parking is just a £1 and you can pay by card via your mobile, please don't be one of the cheap skates who were parking just outside the entrance or worse on the road as that is dangerous. The £1 goes to the upkeep and maintenance of the canal and towpath that you are there to enjoy. Why should everyone else pay for your enjoyment?!

It is such a lovely location right on the canal with indoor and loads of outdoor seating, we got there just for opening so got a table right by the canal with the dogs and ordered our food.

Quite good range of breakfast items and great that they were flexible with changing some items on the breakfasts (not a tomato fan!). Food did take quite some time to arrive and when we ordered it was not that busy but we were not in a rush so not a problem but had to order 2nd coffees as we had easily drank the first ones before the food arrived.

Not the biggest or finest quality breakfast for the price but the location more than made up for it and we will certainly go back again.

Our tip if you have dogs don't sit on the waters edge as half way through breakfast a very territorial swan came up and was trying to attack the dogs, we had their leads tied to the picnic table so we were struggling to get them away. Two both setters were terrified by it, the pointer went into defensive mode to protect his pack so not such a restful end. Next time we will sit away from the edge of the water so we don't have that problem.

They serve food all day and in the summer months in the early evening as well. We will certainly go back for breakfast and early dinner when they open later as it is a great place to sit with the dogs and enjoy the location.

If you have children you can buy duck food for 50p as well and they are as tame as anything walking round the tables much to our dogs disgust just out of their reach!

“Perfect stop for unwinding”
Reviewed 13 May 2014

Visited these premises on numerous occasions with family , relations and friends. Perfect spot on Ashby Canal to view canal boats passing through; as a start point to walk to Bosworth Field and return for much needed refreshment & rest; or just walk along the canal bank in either direction & absorb the beauty of the countryside. The food & drinks(it is licensed) are first class & its open all year. Just remember to pay for the car park! Well behaved pets are welcome

“Bank Holiday Mayhem!”
Reviewed 6 May 2014

Ok so it was Bank Holiday Monday and the weather was good! But what started off as a bite of lunch ended up almost being our tea!
We queued for 20 minutes to order 2 baguettes and a couple of drinks. The lager pump wasn't working so had to have canned lager. My other half was on his second pint by the time we got our food. 50 minutes after ordering, our baguettes arrived. Mediocre I'm afraid and certainly not worth that long a wait.
It is a lovely venue, a great watering hole after a stroll but if you're gagging you'll be disappointed!
Speed the service up please!
