“Nice find - would go back”
Reviewed 15 May 2014

We stayed here one Sunday evening at the May Day Bank Holiday on a Groupon Deal. It was the first weekend of my husband's retirement and I just wanted it to start right for him. When I rang to book it I thought it was a little strange that they close down totally on an Sunday evening. They did explain this to me when I booked that the Bar and restaurant would be closed from about 5pm after they had served Sunday lunches. Nevertheless I decided to go ahead with my booking as I had discovered that there was a particularly good restaurant in the same village which was within walking distance called Hercules Revived (which was excellent).

We arrived to check in about 3pm as i was concerned about what happened if you got there after 5! I need not have worried. We were greeted with a welcoming smile and dealt with very efficiently. Part of our deal was a glass of bubbly each so we decided to partake of this immediately.

We then checked into our room. This is in like a courtyard design with a nice lawned area with tables in the centre. The room was very comfortable and big enough for a couple of nights stay. The linens and towels were nice quality and the room was very clean. The staff that we came across all seemed very friendly. The full english breakfast the following morning was very good although the coffee was not very warm and we did ask for a new pot to be put on.

All in all we had a very nice stay and would have liked to have sampled their evening meal but if you want to dine there don't book in on a Sunday evening. Our friends and us agreed that we had really enjoyed it and we would return some day and stay overnight again.

Room Tip: We had a standard room and did not get to see the others but this was adequate.

We stopped on Sat 3rd May for one night. the hotel looks nice and has a lovely beer garden. Our room was number 5(rooms are around the beer garden). The room itself was okay and very comfortable. Couple of problems though.Somebody had built a dressing table so high that it was level with the existing double plug socket. They provided 1 3 pin adapter so that we could use 1 plug. The other socket was useless as nothing could be plugged in(apart from kettle&the bottom connection of plug did not look too good). I cant believe that whoever built this was not brought to book or simply re do it. Its plain idiotic. Plugs are a essential thing in the room. we could only use 1 thing at a time. There were lights outside room and curtains did not really close enough light out at night. The bed itself was lovely and comfy tho, great night sleep. We had 1 drink in the bar but its more of an eating place.Did not feel like could relax in the bar area, very stuffy. Also bar staff seem to serve people who look the type to eat and drink there 1st. Wearing a KISS t-shirt and having long hair,I felt that I was not the type of clientele they were after. Also bar staff were polish I think, and it took 3 times for him to understand what I wanted.
Last thing.if hotel recommend a taxi to Market Bosworth, check fare before going. We got taxi and it cost nearly £9 for a 2 mile drive. Disgraceful price. We had a nice walk back to hotel on the night, took around 1 hour. Lovely walk though down deserted country lane.
Breakfast was okay, but 1 rasher of bacon is seriously stingy.
enjoyed a nice day & night away with my wife, but more so for it just being a break, few beers, meal in Bosworth, comfy bed and shopping in Hinkley + nice weather.
Worth a visit is the car boot sale on A47 to Leicester on a Sunday morning.Around 10 minute drive.
Nice break but would not stop here again.

Room Tip: Avoid room 5 unless you take an extension lead.

My husband and I had a delicious lunch here in Dec 2013 and he decided to take advantage of a room and meal deal and treat us to a night away. My stepdaughter and partner came too. Our room did not meet the promised description of de luxe although it
did have a four poster bed. The other room was about twice the size and well appointed but the bed was apparently uncomfortable. Both were in the stables block with lovely gardens and countryside views.
The evening meal was excellent but the breakfast was a bit meagre. There was very limited choice of fruit and cereal and the cooked breakfasts were not too
generous.
All in all, although it was very pleasant we did not feel we had good value for money. There were a number if guests on Groupon deals who presumably paid a lot less so this may explain why the breakfasts were rather sparse.
The village is lovely and Bosworth Battlefield is very close
We may return for lunch but are unlikely to stay again.

Recently had a fabulous evening here excellent three course meal staff so good and attentive and lovely breakfast in the morning no complaints on that score our only complaint would have been the actual bed that we tried to sleep on was awful all the springs had shot up on it and dug into you they need to invest I some new mattress but that said every thing else was superb have been back since just for a meal lovely place

Room Tip: Don't have room 4 if you want a comfy bed

Nice hotel but could be better, the bedrooms could do with an update, gaps in ill fitting door letting in drafts would not like to stay in winter, broken tiles in bathroom, also toilet could have done with some bleach down badly stained,on requesting semi or skimmed milk told only full fat milk available which my wife can not use it would have been nice to have an option, also stains on cushions on bed better to not have them on at all.
Don't want to criticise anything about the hotel part really nice bar and restaurant and the outside area is really nice, breakfast was very good, did not have our evening meal there so I cannot comment, if they upgrade the bedrooms the hotel would be spot on.

As we were getting married in Market Bosworth we chose to stay here along with our families on the night before and the night of our wedding. We were extremely well looked after by the manager who helped us organise a meal for over 30 people. The rooms were pleasant (I stayed in the Bridal Suite) and clean, the bed wasn't the comfiest but it was fine. The food was very good with great service.
When I looked at this hotel previously it didn't have great reviews but I would say the majority are unfair. It's well worth a visit and you really feel like you are being looked after personally which you cannot say about a lot of the larger hotels in the area (we know because we researched them all!). We will definitely be returning, i am looking forward to it already!

We stayed here on a Groupon voucher - excellent value.
The location is super - quiet and in the country, lovely courtyard with lawns and gazebo.
Dinner was good, although the bread & butter pudding is best avoided - too stodgy.
The room was spacious, but was the least attractive part of the package - bed creaked at the slightest movement, there was another room above (in a single-storey building) where every sound could be heard (no carpet, for a start) and the toilet took ca 10 minutes to fill.

Room Tip: avoid room 9 (and 10?), which has attic room above it. I am told it is only used when the hotel is f...
