As a frequent traveler to the UK, I wanted to introduce my Fiance' to the beauty of "1066 Country". That was in 2000, when we first discovered Wickham Manor Farm, and met Sally and Mason. We were greeted warmly, slept well, and enjoyed a great full breakfast.
We've been back many times now--and it's only getting better. This is the perfect location to tour the ancient ports, many nearby fine homes and castles, the smallest incorporated township in England--Winchelsea--within walking distance, and the Rye tourist destination. This is the "Real" Agri-tourism so many are looking for.
Our last trip was yet another chance to enjoy the Spring lambing operations, the beautiful cattle herds, the endless views of this ancient stone home, all of the beautiful out buildings, and the landscape. Our view from the room this stay was of the coastal plains and the nearby English channel. While you're here, you're also surrounded by great pub meals--such as the nearby Queens Head pub.
This house has a fabulous history, being an old Quaker farm, once operated by the Penn family---of some significance to us "Yanks". As I recall--they named a state after him! This place is the real deal---enjoy the hospitality!
