“Can't recommend it enough!”
Reviewed 31 August 2014 via mobile

We've visited the lodge for dinner as a large party of 9 whilst on holiday for the last couple of years and can't recommend it enough. We've had a fantastic experienced on all occasions. Our most recent visit was a couple of days ago on which occasion we bought along our dog. We were aware we would need to sit outside but this didn't hinder our experience at all. The staff and owner were extremely helpful and considerate, continuously checking that we were ok and even bought out little tea lights for us when the night turned darker. They were so friendly and the food was amazing as always. It really is lovely knowing the standards of The Lodge is consistent whenever we go and we are guaranteed to have an excellent time and a really good meal! All food is of a fantastic quality and clearly home made, with excellent cuts of meat and good portions. Thank you to the staff for making us feel so welcome. We will be back again soon.

My wife, daughter and two grandsons spent the holiday weekend at the Lodge in Winchelsea, East Sussex, five minutes from Rye and the coast. The Lodge was staffed by a very friendly "crew" who went out of there way to see they had everything they needed for a great weekend. The family room had everything they needed, plenty of tea and coffee. All meals were of high quality and good portions. My wife would definately like to to return for another weekend or maybe longer...with me this time!!

Room Tip: Family room was no.19

I arrived on the Sunday evening and from the moment I stepped foot in my room it felt like home, the hotel is just outside Rye surrounded by fields so lovely and peaceful. I had booked a single room but I actually ended up with a double room so that was great. The room, are great, they are not actually connected to the reception and restaurant so you can come and go as you please. It was very clean and the staff were very helpful. I ate in the restaurant one evening and the food was lovely all homemade which is a big plus for me as I used to be a chef.

Stayed one night as meeting up with family at Camber Sands. The lodge is on the main road but we couldn't hear the traffic in the room. Great view of the countryside if you have a drink or meal outside.

Impressed with the accommodation, it deserves it's 4 stars. Clean and comfortable.

Food was served in an airy, modern building. Really good choice of food. Good bar. The staff work hard here, doing bookings, taking orders and serving. The gentleman that booked us in and served us was very friendly.

As a family of four (2 children aged 11 & 9) we wanted to book a last minute mini break - couple of nights away - we had already stayed in Rye before and really enjoyed it (family bike ride to Camber Sands, Rye High Street, cafes and antique shops). Obviously almost everywhere was full in August but when I tried The Lodge they had a vacancy on a Sunday night in their family room. The room was very cosy and welcoming - bunk beds and a double bed - nicely positioned upstairs in their motel building. The room was very clean and the beds very comfortable. Continental breakfast was good in a very pleasant dining room. It was a shame they only had one night vacant. We would have stayed a few more nights. Toby the Manager was very helpful and kind when I discovered I had left an item behind in the wardrobe - he returned it by post to me straight away. Will definitely stay there again and recommend to friends & family.

Room Tip: Family room was excellent.

We were looking for an early dinner on our way back from a day out at Eastbourne, and stopped in at the Lodge as it looked clean and modern. The barman was extremely helpful and friendly, and the food was very tasty with good sized portions. As an added bonus it was extremely good value, with 3 mains coming to less than £27 ! Drinks were good value too, and the staff were very pleasant and welcoming. A real find - I would definitely go back if we were in the area again.

Stopped here for Sunday dinner after visiting Hastings. The restaurant was clean and welcoming and the food was delicious. Good price, friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.
There was a choice of beef, turkey and gammon and plenty of fresh vegetables. The Yorkshire puds were homemade and veg cooked very well. No aunt Bessie's rubbish here!
