Been here a few times in the evening since the new management took over - and it's good. (I haven't been here at lunchtime which they also do).
It's a very old building and it has a nice 'feel' about it. The service is friendly. There are lots of specials for the day and a main menu. The choice of food is quite wide ranging - modern British mostly with a few other classics like 'green thai curry' on the menu too.
Good puddings! My husband had a chocolate and amoretto tart - very nice. I had a meringue fruit nest which was clearly made from scratch not a mass manufactured version.
I think the owners care about what they serve and how people enjoy the dining experience.
Be aware that the toilet is up some very steep steps but I when I commented on this was told that they have arranged access to the disabled toilet in the pub next door for wheelchair users.
