How about waking up and just walk out of your doorstep into your balcony to have the best view of the main Mazunte beach, not to mention the same view at dusk or even when it's pitch dark to fully enjoy the constellations and the milky way on the sky. Or having pancakes or fresh fruit in the morning at the cozy resto with open view to the same very main Mazunte beach.
Running to the end of the world crew fully enjoyed the stay and great service and reception at Posada Ziga by the very owners, one of the two original families in Mazunte!

Posada Ziga is great value. An Amazing view over the Mazunte beach and the Pacific ocean is very affordable. They have more rooms/cabañas over at the back but the ones facing the beach are awesome. They do not have a proper restaurant but do serve breakfast which is excluded in the bill. The lady managing it is very nice and kind. The rooms could be a little bit tidier but the shower was nice and clean and the beds have mosquito nets. They have modern safe boxes so you can head on to the beach worry free of leaving your valuables in the room. Definitely recommended!

Room Tip: Head on to the rooms with view over the ocean if you can sleep with the sound of splashing waves.

The rooms are very modest but will have everything you need to stay comfortable. Several of the rooms are positioned to face the breathtaking Mazunte beach. Ask for room no. 11 or no.6. You can't go wrong. As with many of the hotels and hostels in Mazunte the showers are cold, however after a day in the blazing hot sun, a cool shower was appreciated. The meals at the hotel restaurant are excellent and are very reasonably priced. We especially enjoyed the copious portions of fruit at breakfast time. I also appreciated being at the east end of the beach as it is a little quieter and prettier. All the hotel staff is very pleasant and despite our lack of knowledge of the Spanish language we were able to communicate just fine. We will definitely be back... And with friends too!

We stayed for over a week at Hostel Ziga and would whole heartily recommend it to anyone. The first four nights was stay at the more expensive rooms above the cafe. These had comfortable double beds, a large shower with good water pressure and best of all, a balcony with exquisite views over the whole of Mazunte. These views alone were worth the price of the room, and we would often find that we spent much of our time on the balcony rather than the beach. Try to get the room further to the right (along the beach) as this has the best views. The only down point I can think of is that the walls are slightly thin so you may hear your neighbours occasionally, but this is a minor issue. The rooms were made up daily and to a good standard.

The second half of our stay we moved to the slightly cheaper rooms further back off the beach (only because our first room was reserved by new guests). These were also very comfortable and included a large veranda with hammocks.

The staff were excellent and extremely friendly and willing to help. The restaurant was also great, some of the best views you will ever enjoy with your morning coffee. It also has a nice off see breeze to help cool you down in the hot midday.

I would highly, highly recommend this place. Some of the best memories of our on-going trip to Mexico and CA were made here. My only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Great hostel at a great beach.

Room Tip: Get a room with a view - worth the minimal extra expense.

We arrived here purely because this is where the cab driver brought us!

We got off the bus from Puerto Escondido and jumped into a taxi - we told him we wanted to go to Mazunte and he brought us here. He said he didn't have connections with them and he may even have been telling the truth, as he certainly didn't appear to be looking for a commission.

It was the start of rainy season, but the sun was still shining. Our room was on the second floor, at the top. There's no air-conditioning, just a mediocre fan and home-made mosquito nets (made from muslin). The only thing between us and the sky were red roof tiles. We did however have our own bathroom and our own hammocks (I became very fond of my hammock!). There is also no hot water - a sign proudly advertises this in reception. Washing your clothes in the toilet (I think they meant bathroom) is also forbidden - probably why there is no plug.

The location is fantastic - based as close as you can safely get to the beach, perched on a small ledge above the beach next to the famous turtle sanctury. The sandy beach is accessed by a small set of steps beside the restaurant.

The surf here pounds upon the shore however, if you watch the waves you can safely get in and out and if you stay beyond the surf you can safely swim. Unlike Puerto Escondido, I didn't experience any nasty undertow here.

On our second night, a massive thunder storm erupted, causing the waves to crash violently throughout the night. Lightening lit up our room and the thunder boomed loudly shaking the hotel. It was the tail end of a hurricane and made me very aware of what the "rainy season" really means . The rain was still torrential in the morning and we headed back up the coast.

Overall I would say, it is not the most comfortable establishment you will stay in. The lack of hot water makes it difficult to get rid of old sun lotion and sand. The lack of air-con makes the nights hot and sticky - the fan can't really cool you through the home made mosquito nets - and you definitely need them unless you want to be eaten alive. The final uncomfortable feeling is when they tell you that you need to lock all your valuables in the safe.

Having said that - the location is fantastic and Mazunte has some of the best food we had throughout our whole trip.

Mazunte is more of a back-packer location than a luxuty destination but the scenery is worth it. If you are looking for the hippy vibe - you will love it here, and location-wise you won't get better than Posada Ziga.

Room Tip: The rooms above reception offer the best views - stunning!

I stayed there with my mate for 3 nights. We got the double room just next to the sea. The view was amazing. The price was very reasonable for what the accomodation offers. People were very friendly. You have to share the bathroom and the water was not that warm.. I personally did not care about the details and I enjoyed a very pleasant stay. If you are very picky and fussy about certain things probably this is not the right place for you. Better go to Maldives...

We recently stayed here having left Posada del Arquitecto (our room was reserved by someone else). The room was nice enough, spacious with mosquito net over the bed. Not over the windows though, nor were there bars so they could not be left open at night. We had a nice terrace with hammocks and there was a wi fi signal. Cold water shower but that's the norm in these parts. The management and staff were friendly.

On the down side there was building work going on which spoilt the ambience. Rooms with better sea views were being renovated/built. The bar/restaurant was ungoing similar work. It will probably be really nice when it's all completed. The cost was 450 pesos which I think was a bit much but cheaper rooms we saw elsewhere were a BIG drop in quality.
