Owner description: The Contamines ski area is located in the charming village called Les Contamines-Montjoie in the Haute Savoie french Alpes region. The ski area has two sides one in les Contamines and one in Hauteluce in the Savoie region. The ski area has a total of 46 slopes and 25 lifts. It's the perfect ski resort for family, with a good natural snow cover, with commitment for the quality of the slopes and an exceptional view on the Mont-Blanc massif.

“Les contamines, skiing beside Mont Blanc, what more could you want.”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Lovely resort, and high which is what you want in April. A few fast lifts but the resort could do with updating. Some of the runs aren't snowboard friendly, ie a lot of walking. A big plus is that in April there were only a couple of hundred skiers over the whole area, so we covered over 50 miles in a day without much effort.

“Nice compact ski area - Very quiet village”
Reviewed 18 March 2014

Just returned from a week in Les Contamines. Ski conditions were excellent for this time of year with the snow holding well despite clear skies and temperatures near 17-18 degrees all week. Many slopes face in a northerly direction so skiing is good late in the season. South facing slopes were icy in the mornings and sugary by midday – not so good. The size of the overall area is quite small, about 120 km, so we had seen it all within a few days. By the end of the week we were contemplating travelling to Chamonix or Mergeve to get a little more mileage under the belt. Realistically, there is only enough to keep an average skier occupied for 3-4 days. The lift system is generally slow with quite a few tiresome long button lifts. Fortunately the place was almost deserted so we had no queuing. The village is quite traditional and picturesque but very quite. Après activity is non existent, possibly the quietest resort I have been to. It is probably best suited to family groups, those seeking to burn the candle at both ends should look elsewhere. Nevertheless, it's a nice ski area with stunning views - just make your own entertainment.

“Awesome”

Les Contamines is brilliant! I have been there three times and still haven't explored the whole resort! The lifts run smoothly and all the staff are friendly. I always expect it to be busy but because it is such a big resort you always feel like your the only one on the slopes.

“Fun for all”
Reviewed 1 March 2014 via mobile

We have been coming here for a few years as family lives nearby. We always love skiing here because of the variety of slopes, the ability to ski different slopes and meet at the same lifts, etc. I am not a great skier, my husband is much better, but we both enjoy our time at les contamines better than other resorts nearby.

“Intermediate Skiier”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

Visited this resort for the day and had a great time. I have been skiing a few times now and this was the prefect place to continue learning. There are plenty of long runs that allow plenty of time to to practice. The resort was not too busy which for someone who is still learning is perfect. Would return.
