“A quiet week in June”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 June 2012

This was our first visit to this resort. It is not overrun with tourists as it is more of a place for the Spanish to take their vacations. This suited us down to the ground although outside of the resort we had to brush up on our Spanish.

The resort is a small development of two story buildings of varying sizes. With beautiful landscaped gardens and well-maintained buildings, it was a very pleasant place to be staying.

The apartments were clean and well-apointed with furniture that all looked pretty new-ish. We had felt screen TVs in the lounge and the bedroom and there was also a CD and DVD player in the lounge.

The pool area was kept very clean and a life guard is on duty whenever the pool is open. The pool bar sells snack and hot food until about 4pm. The reception area is small and the staff know their stuff although they could perhaps be a bit faster at times. There is free wi-fi inside and just in front of the reception building.

There is a gym and indoor pool but we did not go to these.

The restaurant again is nicely decorated and kept clean and tidy. Guests can opt for meal packages which would mean buffets in the evening, but we chose to eat from the a la carte menu each evening. We were very pleased with the choice and quality of the starters and main courses. However, as we often find in Spain, they do not have much to excite a British palate when it comes to puddings.

For ice-cream lovers, we would recommend taking a short walk along the promenade towards Garrucha where there is a marvellous ice cream parlour.

The beach, which is just a short walk from the resort, is huge and sandy but has virtually no shade so be careful ini the sun if you choose to go there.

If venturing further afield that this, a car would be needed. We drove to the nearby nature reserve of Cabo do Gata on a couple of days and also went inland to "Fort Bravo Texas Hollywood" on another day.

We will be back, probably at this time of the year again, as it is very quiet before the Spanish holidays begin.

Staff are really great and the grounds are stunning. We opted for the half board option and although breakfast was outstanding with hot and cold options, fresh fruit, cakes and bread, the evening meal was nothing to shout about.... But ok.

The rooms are adequate an clean.

All in all a great holiday and well worth it if you can get a deal through the daily deal sites..

My friend & I paid £59 for a week stay at the Vera Beach Club in Jan 12, it was vaule for money! It was out of season but it was just nice & quiet enough to enjoy. The restort ifself is family friendly and is enclosed with a lush & green feel. The Vera beach was 5 mins walk away which was handie to just have a nice chill. Close by is a local town of Garrucha which has bars, shopping area etc great to explore, Vera it self is a bus drive away didn't get explore the city that much due to end of season. The Vera bus station is a good link to all sounding cities for example Almeria, which is a good find. This city is a all rounder for shopping, eating, chilling/relaxing & history. We also found another sea side town further up from Garrucha called Mojacar small but nice with a small shopping mall/centre and nice caf'e too.

Food shopping either Lidl in Vera (across the road from the bus station), supermarket inside Mojacar small mall or there are local food shops around the Vera Club area. The staff at the Vera Club are very friendly & helpful, but we wasn't impress by the Vera Club resturant food at breakfast or dinner time the food was 4 out of 10. For fresh local dishes try out places in Garrucha/Mojacar (sorry can't remember names).

One word of adivce when it comes to choosing airports choose Almeria not Alicante tooooooo far away. Plus book all transfers from here before travel, because local transport isn't realiable unless you know all your connecting times (trust me I know from experience flying to Alicante).

I would return again for the same deal of £59!

Just spent a week at Vera Beach Club in a one bedroom apartment. Not only were we impressed with the apartment itself, which was very well appointed, but we loved the village-style layout and the superb trees and plants between and on the buildings. Just beautiful. The management were very pleasant and helpful, the cleanliness of the apartment and the gardens just excellent. The outdoor pool was well frequented by all age groups enjoying the sun or the water, and controlled by a key to the gate, as is access to the whole complex. Vera Beach Club is unlike the mass of impersonal apartments in the area - it's a small and secure oasis, and for those who prefer is naturist-free! We bought food in from local supermarkets and sat on one of the two balconies enjoying our meals, overlooking the lush vegetation, enjoying the warmth and the ever-present sounds of the birds. Definitely a good idea to ask for a first floor apartment if possible, to be up in the 'canopy' of the trees. The only problem could be the noise of the air-conditioning during the really hot months. As for the area generally, Vera Beach Club is really close to and effectively a part of the main town of Garrucha - which has an extensive Friday market and plenty of restaurants - and within strolling distance of the beach. The hill town of Mojacar seems to be promoted through local postcards as the place to visit, but it is better for its viewpoint rather than its tourist shops (a personal opinion). The Playa Cueve del Lobo and nearby beaches are attractive. Tito's is recommended as an excellent place to eat, clearly popular. Watch out for thieves in the car parks: double check that your car is locked and take your personal items with you at all times, to reduce their takings. The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is well worth visiting, especially the Interpretation Centre on the Almeria to Cabo de Gata road, and San Jose where the beach is shallow furthest from the harbour and good for swimming; also has a number of restaurants. All in all, Vera Beach Club is the ideal base for exploring the area and is fully recommended - although don't tell anyone else!

Room Tip: First floor apartment ideally facing west for the evening sun.

Stayed here on a KGB deal and I would happily pay full price for these apartments!

Really spacious and FULLY equipped, it literally has everything you'd expect in an apartment you'd stay in full time. The complex it spotless, and well looked after. The pool that was open when we were there was lovely (if a little cold in March) and the staff were very attentive.

The main restaurant was a bit blah and lacked Spanish food but it served the purpose on the night we arrived!

The area is really untouched and 'real' Spain, apart from the odd English bar which is fine with me! We didn't need a car, we enjoyed walking around and the walk to Garrucha is lovely. ANything further we jumped on the very excellent buses which are cheap and just learn a little Spanish.

This was one of my favorite holidays thanks to great accommodation in a lovely area of Spain

It was just perfect, nothing more to say. The appartments was equiped very very well. A lot of space, good furniture, all the facilities you could need during stay. Even salt, sugar, water, coffee, tea and other small things were provided. The apartments have a really nice garden. In conclusion, the rooms was clean, spacious, well equipped, comfortable, the best value for money (49 euro for one night in two bedroom apartment with 80 square meters space) I will definitely recommend to stay here with family even for a long time. PERFECT!

Room Tip: Get the 80 square meters apartment - you do not regret!
