Once again we visited Vera Beach Club, this time for 2 weeks, a great relaxing two weeks.

kindle in hand, sun bed under sun shade on lawn and away for the day, just a break for lunch in the pool side bar, very good service and choice of food, or back to apartment for break on balcony.

found the resort very quite, which was great,

grounds immaculate as usual, staff very friendly and courteous. Apartment very spacious and clean with dishwasher and washing machine, all cleaning materials for washing dishes by hand and tablets for dishwasher.

Room Tip: We prefer an upstairs apartment, as we like the two balconies, one from lounge one from bedroom. Dow...

Given how much we paid for this place in cheapo dealcloud voucher land, it was gobsmacking value, and I can't really fault it. The flat itself was spacious, modern and clean. It had all the amenities you would expect and more. The grounds were beautiful and well maintained, with 2 large pools, and all just 5 minutes from the beach.

If I try my hardest to squeeze out some criticism, I would say using the gates into the complex was tricky and became a bit of a drag. I would also say that the beach was nothing special - the sand was an unattractive brown and the sea, while lovely and warm, was as murky as the English channel. But these are small points really, overall it was a great stay at an unbelievable price and I'd happily return.

In terms of the surrounding area, it is nice but not exceptional. A car is a must. We found little day-trips to San Jose and the myriad of beaches up the coast to be great. Mojacar village, around 20 mins drive away, is very beautiful and we had several wonderful trips and evening meals there. The food, specifically the fish and seafood, everywhere - with the possible exception of the on-site restaurant - was as good as on any holiday I've had, and very affordable.

Room Tip: Request a first floor apartment.

an excellent resort with superb accomodation,we found all staff members to be extremely friendly and helpful.our apartment was nicely located with views over the well kept gardens. There is a lovely promenade walk to Garrucha of about 15 minutes which is well worth doing simply for the fish restaurants on arrival. There is unfortunately a dearth of good restaurants in the area surrounding the hotel but most were adequate. The main problem that we encountered was the lack of English spoken locally, but as the tourism is predominately Spanish this is only to be expected. The beach is just a short stroll from the club and is clean and spacious, but has a distinct lack of sunbeds and shades. All in all we had a peaceful and relaxing holiday in a lovely resort club, but in an instantly forgettable part of Spain. We also made our first and last flight with Ryanair on this holiday. Not to be recommended!

Room Tip: always request a first floor apartment as ground floor rooms do not have balconies

The apartments are so beautiful, equipped with more than your average self cater, they even had a hand blender and a washing machine I could not believe it. The TV has English channels. Comfy beds, lovely shower and bath. We were given a downstairs apartment but we asked to change to an upstairs one so we had the privacy of the balcony. There was a balcony outside the bedroom and the lounge. When we first arrived they had laid out the dining table like a restaurant and provided some tea and coffee and a bottle of water. I loved the apartment it felt like home.
The complex itself was beautifully kept with flowers and neatly trimmed trees everywhere. The pool was good a bit cold for April though. We did not eat in the restaurant or pool bar as we did not fancy the menu and our apartment was so lovely I cooked us a fab dinner almost every night.
The beach is literally a 4-5 minute walk and very quiet and peaceful. The area is quiet in general so I would reccomend hiring a car. If you drive along the coast in the opposite direction to the local town and get out in the sticks a bit there are tonnes of mini private beaches and a mysterious fog creeping in from the sea in one of the valleys it was quite breath taking.
There are 2 Mercadona supermarkets within driving distance they are the best and cheapest with all kinds of meat and fish and fresh vegetables although there are 2 small ones near the complex.
There are plenty of restaurants nearby but not really many bars. We went go-karting which was a 5 min drive away and we visited the western style village and zoo that was about an hours drive.
Overall it is a quiet destination, very peaceful and therapeutic. I would go back there in a flash and we only paid £99 for the week how AMAZING!!!

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs apartment

We stayed in a two-bed appt last week of June and 1st week of July 2012. The appt (No. 34) had 2 decent sized bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with twin beds. There was a full bathroom up the stairs too. Both bedrooms had a balcony, large enough for two plastic chairs. We faced east/west and it was lovely watching the sun go down over the pool of an evening. Each bedroom and the living room had very effective air conditioning units. There was a hair dryer in the bathroom. The kitchen had all appliances except a dish washer.

The resort is a gated community as are the two pools, so it is all very safe. Both pools have a lifeguard on duty. We only used the pool at the pool bar which ranged from 1.2mtrs deep to 1.9. The water was lovely and warm. There were quite a few parasols for those that required the shade. The pool bar served food and drink, with a happy hour from 5pm - 6pm. The staff there were very friendly and the food reasonable. Prices were fair.

Monday's, wednesday's and friday's, an english person comes and takes aqua aerobics and she is brilliant. I got a really good workout in each 1 hour class and this is complimentary.

We had an issue with our TV and missing outside table and both were resolved the day we spoke to reception. Reception staff spoke good english and were very helpful.

There is no entertainment on site which suited us fine but if that is what you want, you may find this resort too quiet. A british pub 1 minute away does karaoke and other entertainment.
There is free wifi at reception but the download speed is painfully slow.

There is an indoor pool and gym although we didn't use them.

The grounds are very pretty and well maintained. There is also a small play area for little kids.

The Barney Bee's children's club is run by Samantha who is fluent in spanish but is english. Lots of kids from 5 - 14 used the facility every day. She organised activities inside and daily pool games.

While we were there it was mainly spanish people but then the english schools had yet to break up.

There is a small supermarket a couple of minutes away and a slightly larger one 5 mins away (walking time).

The beach is a few minutes walk and is very clean. Buoys mark how far out you can go, there are walkways across the sand, lots of showers dotted along the beach and lifeguards spaced out along the seafront. There is a pretty promenade you can walk along towards Garrucha (20 min walk). There is a larger kids play area half way along.

Restaurants are thin on the ground close to the resort but there are some on the way to Garrucha and loads in that town.

Close by we ate at Laguna - average and their wi-fi reception was poor; Pub Millionaire - typical british pub abroad, food was quite good, host was friendly and wi-fi was excellent! We walked along the beach and ate at La Cana de Espana on the sand - food was very nice and it was a lovely setting. Diagonally opposite Pub Millionaire is an icecream kiosk and the yogurt 'mr whippy' is delicious.

We did the camel ride at Mojecar which we can highly recommend. They take great care of the camels and it was a great experience for us all. We then drove up the hill into Mojecar village and found a gem of a typical Andalucian village. Lots of narrow pedestrian streets teeming with shops and restaurants. We went back there for our final evening and ate at Aires del Sur which had a good terrace where we watched the sun set over the valley. I had the best piece of pork I have ever tasted and my husband enjoyed his fillet of beef.

There is an aqua park a couple of kilometres away although we never got there but it does look good. Other people said the mini hollywood was worth a visit.

We travelled to Granada for a two day visit and it took about 2.5 hours to drive.

All in all, we loved this resort and the area and would definitely go back.

Room Tip: Appt 34 is part of a terrace of two-storey appts and next to one resort owned appt and one privately...

This was our first visit to this resort. It is not overrun with tourists as it is more of a place for the Spanish to take their vacations. This suited us down to the ground although outside of the resort we had to brush up on our Spanish.

The resort is a small development of two story buildings of varying sizes. With beautiful landscaped gardens and well-maintained buildings, it was a very pleasant place to be staying.

The apartments were clean and well-apointed with furniture that all looked pretty new-ish. We had felt screen TVs in the lounge and the bedroom and there was also a CD and DVD player in the lounge.

The pool area was kept very clean and a life guard is on duty whenever the pool is open. The pool bar sells snack and hot food until about 4pm. The reception area is small and the staff know their stuff although they could perhaps be a bit faster at times. There is free wi-fi inside and just in front of the reception building.

There is a gym and indoor pool but we did not go to these.

The restaurant again is nicely decorated and kept clean and tidy. Guests can opt for meal packages which would mean buffets in the evening, but we chose to eat from the a la carte menu each evening. We were very pleased with the choice and quality of the starters and main courses. However, as we often find in Spain, they do not have much to excite a British palate when it comes to puddings.

For ice-cream lovers, we would recommend taking a short walk along the promenade towards Garrucha where there is a marvellous ice cream parlour.

The beach, which is just a short walk from the resort, is huge and sandy but has virtually no shade so be careful ini the sun if you choose to go there.

If venturing further afield that this, a car would be needed. We drove to the nearby nature reserve of Cabo do Gata on a couple of days and also went inland to "Fort Bravo Texas Hollywood" on another day.

We will be back, probably at this time of the year again, as it is very quiet before the Spanish holidays begin.
