my partner and i stayed here for 10 nights in late september and can't wait to go back this year.
we had such an amazing time.the apartment was spotless and had everything you would need to
cater for yourself.the swimming pool and grounds were all very well kept.the owners are so nice
and friendly and shared with us fruit from their apple tree and also some homemade walnut cake
which was the best ever.we hired a car to get about but the number 10 bus will get you around
and is a very good service.the restaurant at the top of the hill from the apartments serve very
good food and wine at a good price.we are looking forward to return to our little peice of heaven
this september and hope to have the same apartment with our little balcony with views to die for
see you soon.x

Room Tip: they are all wonderful.

Other reviewers have pointed out that this location is quite remote and I won't try to disabuse anyone of the notion. That being said, if you're on the market for a quiet, relaxing break in an establishment run by a lovely family, then Marnic Apartments is quite possibly for you.

The location is lovely; perched on a bluff overlooking the Adriatic, surrounded by vegetable plots, orchards and vines, with a few chickens wandering around for good measure (on the plots that is, not amongst the apartments). The owner Ivo could not have been a better host; available when needed but otherwise invisible. Those of you who have had hotel staff monitoring your every move will know how important this is. The rest of the family are equally nice, although Ivo seems to be the only English speaker (our shortcoming, not theirs). We were supplied with apples and grapes from the family garden, a delicious surprise which we greatly appreciated.

The apartments are currently undergoing upgrades so should be even nicer next year. Ours was spacious with decent quality furnishings and good kitchen facilities, including fridge, hob and microwave. Plenty of crockery and cutlery of a basic standard. The bathroom was immaculate and hot water available 24/7; just let it run a minute or so at night to reach temperature.

Only one restaurant at the top of the hill, about 2 minutes' walk, called 'Zupcica', great pizza and the best steak I've eaten in a long time. Prices low to reasonable; wine very cheap. One mini-market about 10 minutes away. Nothing spectacular, but they do stock fresh bread daily.

The only real problem, as others have mentioned, is the road. Croatia seems to have something against pavements and so walking anywhere requires a bit of concentration. Traffic is a fraction of that in the U.K. but still significant. If, like us, you are adults in decent health, this won't be an issue, but older ones and families with children might have a few problems. Of course, if you hire a car, this won't be an issue. Public transport is excellent and regular, with the price of a ticket anywhere seeming to be 15 kuna (about £1.70 or so). The number 10 bus will take you to Dubrovnik one way and Cavtat the other. Both are must-visits, especially Dubrovnik.

Other reviewers have pointed out that reminders of the war are clearly visible and this is certainly true; on our travels we saw a few derelict homes and even hotels that had suffered the ravages of conflict. But it is also clear that Croatia is making great inroads towards a full recovery and tourism is proving a great help in that regard. If you want to play a part in that recovery, you could do much worse than spend a week or so in the company of Ivo and his lovely family.

Room Tip: Didn't spot any duff apartments, so you shouldn't have any problems.

We found the apartments very basic and a few probs in the room like only one ring to cook on and a dodgy shower but the views are to die for from the balcony. My hubby was dissapointed with the size of the room where 3 of us had to sleep abit like a large bedsit comes to mind. But i think a good place to stay to explore the old town of dubrovnik etc.And the owners were lovely and very helpful. The bus is regular the number 10 but abit of a walk to the bus stop they are no pavements so you have to be careful and keep within the white lines abit difficult if you have small children or a pram. All in all a nice hol had by all i found the excusions abit pricey and also where i thought i was going on a cruise cos it was called the 3 island cruise we actually ended up on a bus for 3 hrs and then a taxi boat took us over to a island not good as i got travel sickness due to all the winding roads and i was sick which was quite embarresing so the wording on the excusions wants altering. This was our 4th time in croatia although we go to the north usally i think out of the 4 times we have been this was our smallest accomadation.

We booked this holiday on a budget. The apartment was large and clean. The 2 bathrooms were a bit tired and could have done with a refurb. Hot water was a bit problematic in the shower . The balcony was shared which was not a problem. The views are outstanding but the location was a bit remote. 14 km from Dubrovnik and 7 km from Cavtat . There is a steep walk from the apartment to the main road . Then the walk to the bus stop or shop means a fairly scary walk along the side of the very busy road .
Overall a good budget stay but next time we would chose to stay in Cavtat which was charming . The wonderful bugenvilla restaurant was fabulous. Perhaps the highlight of the holiday was the off road guided cycle and wine tasting trip. Just fabulous

We stayed at the Marnic Apartments for one week in September 2013. The apartments are really easy to find on the main road if you follow the signs instead of using a sat nav as we discovered and quickly got acquainted with the local roads. We hired a car for the week which gave us the freedom to get around but the number 10 bus frequently passes by the apartments which makes Dubrovnik a fifteen minute bus ride away and the delightful Cavtat a similar distance in the opposite direction. Cavtat is well worth a trip for the numerous harbourside restaurants and local feel. The fresh fish at the Galija was fab.
The pool at the Marnic was great, clean and perfect for freshening up after a day in the sun. There is a small beach approx ten minutes south of the apartments which you can see just down the coast. A trip to Kupari beach ten minutes north of the apartments is also well worth a trip with the echos of history eerily felt courtesy of the now derelict hotels which were heavily damaged during the Croatian war of independence in the early 90's.
There is a Lidl and Getro (Which we preferred) supermarkets in a place called Župa which was a ten minute drive along the D8 heading towards Dubrovnik. Much recommend a Croatian beer call Ozjusko which was perfectly refreshing and very easy to drink.
This was our first time in Croatia and the location, apartment facilities and beautiful panoramic views of the Adriatic from the Marnic helped make this a holiday to remember.
