I was visiting the area while doing genealogical research/meeting distant relatives and this hotel was perfect. Since it was the end of August, this side of the island was pretty quite and the hotel was not full. It was a great place to relax after a long day and a great place to linger a little longer over breakfast. The hotel rooms were comfortable, the bathroom was a good size. The breakfast, which was included, offered a good selection of toast, really good english muffins, bagels, cereal selections, juices, tea, coffee, yogurt, oatmeal, etc. and you could either sit inside or outside both with lovely views of the water.
Interestingly the hotel provided white towels and grey towels; the grey towels are for cleaning up when you've been playing in the red sand for which the island is famous. I thought that was a nice touch.
The Dory Shop restaurant was good and appeared to be frequented by locals which is a good sign. It was also right on the water and had lovely views. Since it was fishing season when I was there, it was great to see the boats coming and going. When the website said it was a working fishing pier next to the hotel, they were not lying but I was pleased that it didn't have the smell I was worried it might. I definitely recommend this property.
