My new husband and I stayed in the solid pine St. Lucia cabin at Adventure Lodge for our 4 night honeymoon in June. Although it used to be independent, it has now been integrated into the nearby Couples Resort.

Pros:
- This means that you get the 5 course, delicious meals of the Couples Resort dining room for dinner (as well as an decent breakfast), the heated saltwater pool, canoe, kayak, and paddle boat rentals, fitness center, and access to the additional a la carte spa services and outdoor activities.
- The staff at the Couples Resort are very nice and helpful.
- The Couples Resort lake is nice to canoe/kayak on.
- There is no end of activities, from horseback riding at the nearby Adventure Stables to walking the paths in Algonquin itself.
- Our cabin was clean and smelled wonderful.
- Our St. Lucia cabin overlooked the small pond, which hosted blue herons, rabbits, and lots of birds.
- All of the cabins are backed by forest, creating a private, wildlife-filled area.
- The working fireplace was well stocked with wood at no cost to us, and firestarters and matches were supplied.
- Everything in our cabin worked, including the jacuzzi!
-There was a daily maid service (although we didn't use it).

Cons:
- You have to take a 5min drive to the restaurant (although there is a shuttle for dinnertime).
- There is no room service, so you have to be at breakfast between 8:30am and 10:30am (a bummer for worn-out honeymooners).
- There are no staff at the Adventure Lodge, so the old dining hall and boat/canoe rentals on site are locked up and if you need anything you need to get it from the Couples Resort. Also, you are not allowed to canoe/kayak/anything at Adventure Lodge since there are no supervisory staff.
- Although the privacy of being one of the only couples in the cabins is nice, when we were the ONLY ones there, with no one else around, it was a bit eerie - although there is a phone in the cabin with a direct line to the Couples Resort and Emergency Services..
- During dinner, everything "from the bar" costs extra (including cola, juice, etc.), but the servers do not tell you this outright.
- Although you can pop in for breakfast, you need to book your dinner time the day before or the morning of, taking out some of the 'carefree' element of a vacation and forcing you to plan your daytime activities by the clock.

Our cabin had a fireplace, large jacuzzi, full bathroom, comfortable king size bed, tv (nicely hidden in a nice wooden hutch with drawers) with satellite channels and an internet hook-up (both complementary), wooden floors, and pine walls.

Overall, we had a great honeymoon at the Adventure Lodge. It is pet friendly, so that's perfect for some people, but you do need to take a dirt road to the cabins, which might bother some vacationers with rental cars. We had a great time visiting and riding at the Adventure Stables, who also breed husky sled dogs for winter fun and always have puppies around. When we originally booked, Adventure Lodge hadn't merged yet so the 5 course dinner was a nice upgrade (although having to shower and dress up for dinner on our outdoors honeymoon was a surprise). All the staff and servers were very friendly, and the dinner was fabulous each and every night. There are many small restaurants around for lunch, although between breakfast and dinner all we ever needed was a small snack.

We would recommend this resort to honeymooners, pet lovers, and couples wanting a nice retreat.

we arrived to find that our cabin was more of a room, dropped in a row of other 'cabins', spaced about 4 feet apart with not even a tree separating them. but, we decided to make the best of it.

we were glad to be there in january so that we didn't have to see/hear our close neighbours, but were a little annoying to discover that no matter what we wanted to do, except walking on the very busy snowmobile lane that intersects the property, we had to get in a car and drive. skating on the property pond isn't even permissible.

the restaurant was sub-par while eating, and a nightmare a few hours later when i developed severe FOOD POISONING. I spent the rest of my weekend in the local hospital.

the adventure lodge was kind enough to not charge us for our stay, since their lack of standards put me in the hospital, but despite this sorry attempt, i would strongly recommend that NO ONE stay here.

We stayed for a total of three nights, at the Algonquin Lodge, and we wished we had stayed longer.

The staff was polite but didn't pester you.; very easy going and accomodating. The food was spectacular. (The pasta was delicious! The apple blossoms were spectacular!) When we went, they had no issues with you bringing your own bottle of wine to dinner and without any additional corking fee. If you chose to order a bottle which they'd offered, you were invited to take it back to your lodge.

Spacious log cabins with a very spacious, open concept. Our lodge also had a jacuzzi and fireplace which we used - even though it was August ( "...when in Rome...").

We had no difficulty getting two kayaks and spent quite a few hours taking in the beautiful scenery from the water. The walking trails were also easy and scenic.

We did choose to do off-site horseback riding. Again, the surrounding were beautiful. It was just the two of us with the guide. The woman who guided us was engaging and funny.

If you're looking for a nature-based relaxing escape, this is a wonderful place.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Adventure Lodge. We got to the "resort" and were greeted by an extremely unfriendly woman at the front desk. We were told that we had a choice of dinner soon or in an hour (it was about 5 in the afternoon). When asked if we could possibly eat at 6:30 (didn't feel unreasonable to us) she looked beyond pained. Our room was fine...clean and spacious. However the smoke alarm kept chirping so finally I went back to the front desk. She handed me a fresh battery (no offer to change it). That seemed minor after I ran into the people in the next cabin who had to change most of the light bulbs in their room.

The food is advertised as "gourmet"...I don't think frozen entrees from Costco qualify. In their defense they did try and doctor up the various dishes with frozen berries on many of the items. The road was closed for biking, the canoes were available but you had to climb over slippery rocks to unchain them and there was no one to help you carry them over said rocks. The river is quite pretty if you do manage to safely get into the canoe.

The last straw was that we were charged a "service fee" of 15 percent . Clearly this is done as one would be hard put to tip a staff that does not seem to be in the service business. There was one nice waitress but I doubt she ever saw her fair share of that charge.

Don't let the cheesy photos on their website fool you. This place is amazing! We booked a mid week stay and just loved it. We stayed in the Aruba cottage which was super clean and very charming. The evenings were cool, so we had a chance to use the fireplace too.
During the day it was great to just walk out the cabin door and have the kayaking and the mountain biking right there. We also took advantage of the nearby horesback riding and headed into Algonquin to the trail called The Lookout. Definatley worth the short hike. The views are spectacular.
Food was really good - and the staff is very friendly. Amazing value for your money.
