The Couples Resort is definetely a 5 Star Resort, as soon as you arrive you can tell you are going to be treated as a V.I.P. The room we chose was called the Bridal Room. It consisted of a very large room with 2 person jacuzzi, woodburning fireplace, king size bed with balcony overlooking the lake. Interior was done in pine with a full bath and shower. Food was a 5 course meal with lots of options on the menu and a full wine list. Dinner and breakfast were included in the price and was well worth it. They pampered you if you wanted to be left alone or you could do your own thing. Also included was a salt water pool, paddle boats, sailboats and various beach and excersize equipment with sauna and hot tub. You could also have your meal catered to your room if you so desired. Non alcoholic drinks were included in the price with alcohol drinks served at a nominal price( very resonable considering the location). A place to get away from it all with no children or phones to bother you. A Resort that you will return again and again.........

What a place! We stayed in a large exotic room and the levels of comfort and luxury were fabulous. From the moment we got to the resort the staff were friendly, and helpful, from organising activitiies to recommending dvd's for the romantic nights in, they were there for you but completely unobtrusive. The bed was huge and comfy, the jacuzzi bath was totally indulgent and the hot tub on the balcony, what more can I say. We made full use of all the free facilites, games room, kajaking, cycling, it was all there, you can do as little or as much as you like. The restaurant is lovely, but you can eat in your room for no extra charge if you can't be bothered to walk over (how lazy). The food was exemplary, and we did only eat twice a day and it was ample. Horse riding was great fun and the girls that took us on the trail riding were charming. On our last day we had massages, yet again I am running out of adjectives to dsecribe how enjoyable it was. Suffice to say we stayed an extra night and floated out of the place completely relaxed and rejuvinated. Top time !

If you are on a diet; BEWARE of this resort because you will gain 2 pounds a day on their fantastic meals. You will not be hungry during your entire stay. As for the rest of the resort, it is great. Access to canoe's, paddle boats, mountain bikes are all free. Algoquin Park is a couple minutes away by car. The lake is peaceful and there are plenty of areas to paddle to for some privacy. The outdoor pool is always set at 85 degrees and the hot tub is about 103. All the rooms have real fireplaces and all have either a dble bath or hot tub. Great place to stay for the weekend.

My husband and I enjoyed our honeymoon at the Bear Trail Inn and I could not have imagined anything better. The staff treat you like Royalty and the food is spectacular. Young or Old, there is something for everyone here: fishing, swimming in their heated saltwater pool, hottubing, biking, paddleboating, canoeing, hiking, billiards, endless movies, nights by the fire and on and on. We were there for five days and could not try everything!
The atmosphere is quaint and serene and you rarely see other guests with the exception of meal times. If you are thinking about a trip here you must do it. In fact, I was debating on whether to write a review or not or try to keep it a secret...that is how fantastic it is. Honeymooners, before booking your trip to the chaotic, people-infested tropics, check this place out, you will not regret it.
Despite its somewhat pricey rates, it is worth every penny. We are already planning our next trip there in September.

I am glad today to be poking around Trip Advisor to find I can now easily offer a review of Bear Trail Couples Resort. My husband and I spent five wonderful days there in August 2004 to celebrate our fifth wedding anniversary. It was a trip we will forever remember fondly.

Bear Trail offered an ideal mix of activity for my husband (rowing, canoeing, fishing) and relaxation for me (pool time, workout room, great deck on which to enjoy a book). Yet, the atmosphere at Bear Trail is one that encourages togetherness. It was an ideal location for the two busy halves of a couple to come together in a way that isn’t always possible on a daily basis.

We purchased some groceries on our drive north (we are Americans), anticipating a need to snack between meals, but found ourselves so satiated with the huge, delicious breakfast and dinner offerings at Bear Trail that there was no need to eat between meals. The food was all very good and there were plenty of choices at both meals to make your dining experience feel varied and not repetitive.

From a dining room full of tables for two, to a relatively early nighttime “closing time” for the game room and outdoor activities (offering subtle encouragement - if you need it - to return to your room), you barely even realize there are other guests at the resort. Staff is pleasant and helpful, yet also seems to successfully blend into the background.

I don’t know if we will ever have the opportunity to return to Bear Trail, but if anyone is considering going, I highly recommend the resort. Go to reacquaint yourself with your loved one, eat good food, and fully relax. No matter your chosen manner of relaxation, Bear Trail likely offers it.

We just got back from spending 2 of the best days away ever. This resort is so relaxing(I'm still feeling it!),the food is great and the rooms are spectacular. This will be our new vacation spot in the winter months every year from now on. We have been searching all over for somewhere as nice as this for years and now we found it. It's also very private.
